I first encountered EMERGE Recycling more than 20 years ago when they were pioneering recycling services in Manchester, so it's great to see how far they've come since then. I like the fact that, as a social enterprise, all the income generated by their business is immediately invested in their parent charity, EMERGE 3Rs whose purpose is to promote environmental sustainability. 3Rs also runs the Manchester branch of national food charity FareShare, which delivers donated fresh supplies to other charities helping people living in food poverty. So, if you're an EMERGE Recycling customer you're also helping feed people in need and protecting the planet. Pretty cool, and great kudos for your green credentials. I've toured the recycling facility and it's clear that this is a comprehensive and specialist site, with confidential paper shredding, cardboard recycling and WEEE recycling all being conducted within the secure facility. They also run a reclaimed timber workshop onsite, Touch Wood, where they reprocess waste wood and either sell it on as DIY supplies or make it into new items. The staff are friendly and very helpful and appear to be expert in their respective fields. The lady who deals with customer care enquiries is particularly upbeat and a pleasure to deal with. I've bought a number of items from EMERGE, including computer equipment and oak products from the reclaimed timber workshop. All have been great quality, with the refurbished laptops, monitor and docking station being particularly great value. The IT equipment has also been very reliable, unlike some secondhand stuff I've bought from other suppliers in the past. It's been over a year since purchasing a reconditioned Lenovo laptop from EMERGE, and it's still going strong and operating perfectly. So certainly from the point of view of buying refurbished IT stock and reclaimed timber items, I couldn't be happier with EMERGE or recommend them more highly.
