I Applied for an Ethiopian visa online and paid £60. The visa never arrived, I contacted the embassy and was provided with support letter and evidence of my payment. We reached Addis Ababa bole tired and safe. No one wanted anything but another 70 U.S.A. dollar. The answer was we know you have paid but if you want to leave the airport you have to pay. We paid for a second visa and left the airport. And was told there’s no refund policy. Unfortunately this is just the beginning of the ordeal. When I am leaving the airport they wanted more money. I was told not say anything for fear of reprisals. I have evidence and recording but will leave the rest for now. After having an argument and long discussion with bole immigration, I figured it’s a normal practice between Ethiopian embassy and bole management. Traveler be aware, take no chances and if you are in doubt don’t travel. Especially if you are Eritrean. They figured you have no protection from country of residence or Eritrean government. Bole airport used to be pleasant to travel and now it turned corrupt and rotten. Ethiopia airline is great, I have never flown to Addis with other airline. I wanted to support Ethiopian airline at any cost. What do you get for loyalty and sacrifice for a country.

Very poor customer service and very rude staff, they told you to wait and they will never get back to you, and when you called them again they'll do the same thing and they never apologise or even Try to make excuse what they have done.

Dining here after the Stand For Ethiopia Sovereignty Celebration March this year was one of my highlights. I even got to take a photo inside with the Ethiopian Ambassador who is one of the most humble and approachable dignitaries that I have ever met.

Hunger & poverty has deeply affected their IQ. Staff are unable to manage the simplest of tasks. The embassy should be outsourced to people that can do a better job.
