FAQ
What is your experience and training in craniosacral therapy?
Our lead practitioner, Elaine Elkington, is a registered osteopath with over 20 years of experience. She has completed postgraduate training in craniosacral therapy and regularly attends professional development courses to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and research in the field. How does craniosacral therapy differ from other types of manual therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of manual therapy that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and surrounding membranes and fluid. It involves light touch and subtle movements to release tension and improve the body's natural healing processes. Unlike other manual therapies, it does not involve forceful adjustments or manipulations. Can craniosacral therapy be helpful for my specific condition or symptoms?
Craniosacral therapy has been shown to be effective for a wide range of conditions and symptoms, including headaches, back pain, anxiety, and digestive issues. However, each person is unique, and the effectiveness of craniosacral therapy may vary depending on individual factors. We offer a thorough assessment to determine if craniosacral therapy is appropriate for your specific needs. How many sessions will I need and what can I expect during a typical session?
The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and their condition. Generally, we recommend a series of 4-6 sessions to start, with the option for ongoing maintenance sessions as needed. During a typical session, you will lie fully clothed on a treatment table while the practitioner uses gentle touch and subtle movements to release tension and improve the functioning of the craniosacral system. What is your approach to integrating craniosacral therapy with other treatments or therapies I may be receiving?
We believe in a holistic approach to healthcare and are happy to work with other healthcare providers to ensure you receive the best possible care. We will communicate with your other providers as needed to ensure that all treatments are complementary and safe. We may also recommend other therapies or self-care practices to support your healing journey.Reviews

Elaine has been truly wonderful in treating my son. We began with a mixture of reflux treatments alongside neck treatments due to being trapped in the birth canal. He couldn't/ wouldn’t turn his neck to the left. Elaine's advice and treatment have been invaluable. We have seen amazing improvements week on week. We have taken on board so many of her tips and made sure to continue our homework with Leo in between appointments to really benefit. Leo now freely turns his head without any encouragement and is generally a much happier baby. Elaine is fabulous with our very fussy son and he enjoys seeing her. I would highly reccomend Elaine for any Osteopath needs and will continue to use her into the future.

We decided to go and see Elaine when Henry was 4 weeks old. I had a traumatic labour which resulted in Henry being delivered with forceps. We were rushed to theatre after 2 long hours of pushing as both our heart rates dropped significantly. This traumatic experience had a huge impact on Henry and his early behaviours. He cried for hours on end each evening. We weren’t getting much sleep as Henry would wake himself screaming. He would tense his whole body, arch his back and look unbelievably uncomfortable. What was supposed to be lovely newborn bubble was extremely difficult and heartbreaking to see our little boy so upset and clearly in pain. That’s where Elaine comes in! Wow - is all I can say. Elaine was so reassuring start to finish. Her knowledge and support of babies, birth and expertise in her area is incredible. We attended 4 sessions in total and were extremely lucky to see results from the first session. During the treatment, he automatically released a lot of tension. We could see his whole body relax. Henry was so calm after this session and would sleep so well after each one. Since visiting Elaine, Henry is sleeping long stretches at night and is so much more comfortable. We now have a lovely, happy and calm little boy. We can’t thank Elaine enough for her help.
