The Hinkley Point C is a controversial issue locally. Some love it, some hate it. EDF has definitely put money into the area and improved things. The bypass around Cannington is better. My Visit to Hinkley was on the free tour - must be booked in advance (months ahead of time). The tour starts at the Cannington EDF information centre. Interactive and interesting. Then you hop on the coach and go to the nuclear power station construction site. It was an interesting and insightful tour. It poured the day we went, so couldn't snap many pictures (and you're not supposed to). You'll be bombarded by numbers and statistics. The tour is worth doing if you're a local. We've also gone to site ourselves and walked around the exterior. It's massive. TRULY MASSIVE.

Last November I visited Hinkley point b and it was the best day I had, the tour guides were really friendly and willing to answer any questions. As soon as i stepped in the turbine hall i was just amazed at how clean and tidy it was. The observation deck or room was really interesting because you could see the refuelling gantry and the reactor lid from it. The control room looked so good and a lot smaller than i expected but still it was fascinating being able to see it from the observation deck. Sadly the plant is closing some time in 2021 and sad to see a British reactor design fade away but to never be forgotten the AGR reactor will not be forgotten. Thankyou EDF for maintaining and giving tours around this amazing power station!
