I have had the pleasure of having Ed as my guitar tutor for over a year. My particular interest is Blues. Since lockdown we have communicated via Skype and I have found the experience extremely valuable. Ed is a very patient tutor and has had a very real positive effect on my playing. I have qualms about giving Ed 5 stars. Whatever genre is your thing Ed will help your on your way to being a better musician.

After a few failed attempts at self teaching I decided that I’d try guitar lessons, despite thinking I may not have the musical ability to play well. After two years with Ed I have progressed far beyond a standard I thought achievable. In choosing Ed I looked for one of the best qualified teachers In the North West in terms of academic background and experience as a practitioner. What came as an unexpected bonus is his natural teaching style, focusing on encouragement, technique and guided learning at an appropriate level. I always have fun learning with Ed. Writing this in lockdown Ed is now able to provide an affordable and quality learning experience online, which has allowed me to continue to improve. I have no reservations in recommending Ed to anyone who wants to fall in love with playing guitar.

Ed Cottam is a true professional with an amazing ability to teach. Ed has taught my 15 year old son and comes with my full recommendation as Ed has really helped share his love of the guitar and inspire and encourage my son to play. Not only that but I feel it’s really helped with those teenage years and also lockdown as having something positive to focus on at that age and during these times is invaluable. Ed is kind, understanding and a true pleasure to know.

My son Sam has been taking electric guitar lessons with Ed for 2 years now. He is absolutely brilliant! He is very patient and really listens to Sam. They choose the songs they are going to learn together and Ed also prepares him for the Rockschool exams. I was very impressed with Ed when he quickly sorted out lessons via Skype as coronavirus hit so Sam didn't miss a lesson! Sam loves the lessons and Ed has massively helped him to improve and further his love for guitar! Highly highly recommend!! *****
