Steven of Eco Roofing Yorkshire Ltd carried out the disposal of an asbestos garage roof and supplied a new garage roof for my severely (quadraplegic) sister in March 2021. She sadly passed away on 17t July 2021. Steven quoted £5,800 for the work. Once the work was completed one of my sister's carers handed over £5,800 in cash and asked for a receipt and certificate to state the asbestos roof had been disposed of correctly. These items were promised but never materialised despite repeated requests. Steven did however send an email confirming he had received £5,800. Mt sister's gardener visited a week or so after the work had been completed, he expressed concerns about the garage roof to my sister. He explained that the roof was sagging and looked unsafe. My husband a retired builder went to my sister's to take a look. He stood in the garage and found that if he put his hand up he could move the garage roof up and down about six inches. I contacted Steven expressing my concerns he explained he would come back and rectify his work when his van was back on the road. Steven did come and tried to rectify his work but left it in an even worse state with lots of screws now sticking down through the garage roof into the garage. Steven also left lots of offcuts of wood on the garage floor and a long steel beam. I reported back to my sister and she decided to employ a structural surveyor to carry out an inspection. The conclusion " In order to rectify the situation it is recommend as the installed roof structure is unsafe it should be removed" The conclusion also mentions various other amendments that should be made or " Alternatively the garage could be taken down and replaced with a new precast concrete garage" This is not what you want to hear when you have just paid out £5,800. Steven claims his work is guaranteed????? I have requested a refund of £5,800 but have had no response from Steven, that was over a month ago. Avoid Steven and his roofing company . Steven responded to my request for a new roof really quickly, and arranged for the work to be undertaken within a few weeks of my initial enquiry. Steven was friendly, his workers were efficient, and the new roof looks absolutely great. Some of the neighbours also asked for his details as they were so impressed.
