Ecco offers the best Neapolitan style pizza in all of Headingley, which is difficult with the tough competition. The dough is incredibly soft, thin and they seem to have created the best recipe for it. The tomato sauce is also incredibly, not overly powerful but a perfect acidity and sweetness, with good quality tomatoes. For me, however, the reason that I don’t visit Ecco every time I go for a pizza, is that the toppings are very subpar. Getting a beautiful crispy dough and tomato and mozzarella which is topped with the lowest quality pepperoni from the supermarket, or cheap mushrooms, makes the pizza fairly forgettable. Also, with toppings, less is more. When you load a pizza with too much mushroom, veg, ham - toppings that hold a lot of moisture - none of them will get a nice taste from the wood fired oven, and most importantly, the water will deep into the dough and the base and tomato will become soggy Ecco needs to 1. Increase the quality of toppings, and 2. Put less toppings on the pizza so that they get a good wood fired char from the oven. If Ecco did this, I would have to get a pizza from there atleast twice a week

Nice pizza but I didn't like seeing what I think was the owner/manager shouting at one of the pizza chefs in front of customers. If you're reading this, treat your hard working staff better. EDIT Not a 'blatant lie' at all, I ate at Ecco Pizza in Headingley this evening with my wife and hate to see bully owners treat poorly paid staff badly. The reply to my comment says it all.

I am beyond disappointed with Ecco Pizzeria. I would rave about this place to my friends all the time. I was so excited when my friend mentioned she would be doing photography for them. The horrible experience she had had being paid for her work and the disrespectful tone used by the owner will never have me walk into these doors again. I recommend everyone against this restraunt chain.
