Diabolical, non transparent customer service. Waiting two weeks for faceless uncaring agents to make a simple transfer for a legitimate property deal.

Usually, I don't waste my time leaving any feedback. However, on this occasion, I'll make an exception. I applied for a position in Ebury as Head of desk for the italian market. I currently live in London, the position was based in Milan. No big deal, I'm Italian, happy to move back to Italy where my family lives. The recruiter got in touch with me for a first video interview. We went through my experience, knowledge of the product and ambition so he advised me another position was open for the Italian market, as Key account director, more in line with my background. I was happy to move forward with that position then. After we verbally agreed a basic salary I was happy with, he booked me for a interview with 3 seniors, including the hiring manager and the country manager. The country manager didn't show up. The first part of the interview was ok, normal questions about my previous experience, ecc. Then the hiring manager joined the interview and the first interviewer left the meeting. After a couple of questions about my knowledge of the Ebury business, he started asking me about my date of birth, the reason why I wanted to move back to Italy and whether moving back to Italy I'd get fiscal benefit on my gross salary from the Italian Government. (Yes, the Italian Government to help Italian professionals, who lived abroad for 2+ years, to relocate to Italy, has set a tax relief program, which means a lower amount of tax paid on the gross salary, so higher net salary. This benefit doesn't have any impact to the employer and, for sure, doesn't effect the hiring manager either!!). Now, I can accept the first 2 questions, but how did it come to ask me about the amount of tax I'd pay on my gross salary over a job interview??? After the hiring manager realized that, yes, I was eligible for the fiscal benefit, the outcome of the interview was that the company was still interested in my profile, but I was more suitable for a lower profile position, paid much less than what verbally agreed with the recruiter. Obviously, I was extremely unhappy about everything so i asked the recruiter to have a chat with someone from the HR as what happened was unacceptable. After a couple of days a senior recruiter got in touch with me. I explained him what occurred in my interview in detail. He asked me whether I was still interested in joining Ebury and he assured me that an internal investigation would be done and someone from the HR would contact me to discuss further. However, after one week the senior recruiter called me back explaining that nothing could be done, that I was unsuccesfull in my application because not skilled enough and the hiring manager confirmed to have asked me something about the fiscal benefit, but he denied any correlation with the salary they were willing to offer me. Now, how is it possible that a company that states to be against any form of discrimination, allows the hiring managers to ask something like that?? Since when asking candidates how much tax they're gonna pay on their gross salary is part of the hiring process??? I accept rejections and any kind of feedback if genuine. But on this occasion, this company went just too far. The bottom of the line is that I was discriminated, I didn't get the job and this company keeps on doing what it does. Very well done. I'm giving one star just because there'e no option to leave a minus!!

Reece Woodford - A terrible salesperson - extremely arrogant, patronising and horrible to deal with - try and build rapport rather than beat your way in with forceful language and making you think you have lied to him etc. Try some common kindness and then we can proceed with the next stages.

After working with Ebury on behalf of my employer, I have found the company, and specifically my contact George Roberts, an absolute pleasure to work with this past year. I could not recommend this company more.
