Ebor Windows are certainly good at promoting themselves. Jo gave us the ‘family business’ sales pitch and took an interest in our renovation work. I had a quote for a patio and porch door. I was told that Ebor would provide a stay for the patio doors and replace a defective hinge on my windows, nothing was too much trouble. By the time Ebor came out to do their survey, my house was in the middle of extensive renovations with walls needing to be replastered where the electrical rewiring and central heating had been installed. I explained to the surveyor that my walls would be skimmed and my porch would be boarded and skimmed in the next few weeks. No problem. I reminded them about the stay for the patio doors and the window hinge. No problem again. When the fitter arrived they noticed an issue straight away. Ebor hadn’t allowed for the new layers of plaster when ordering the door and he’d have to brake out a significant amount of plaster to fit it. I clearly didn’t want that and the fitter agreed it wasn’t the right thing to do. The fitter stated that they’d have to take it away and get a different door made up but that would have a cost. I pointed out that I had done my bit by explaining at survey that the porch was being boarded and plastered and the walls of the other side of the door would be plastered, therefore it wasn’t my responsibility. The fitter said they would carry on with fitting the patio doors and would sort the other door out on Monday and that they would get something sorted out for me. The patio door appeared to have been installed well, but when I asked about the stay, that hadn’t been put on his paper work. When I asked about the window hinge, he had been provided with one that was too big for the window. I then received a phone call on the Monday morning, from Jo. Jo told me that they had had a meeting that morning and they had an offer for me, an additional £360 to fit the porch day. I said that I wasn’t prepared to pay that as it wasn’t my fault. By this point I just wanted to work with a company who I had confidence could do the job right, so I said to Jo that I would pay for the patio door installation once the stays had been fitted but I won’t proceed with the porch door and we can walk away at that. “We’ll take that” exclaimed Jo, sounding delighted. I then received another call from Jo that afternoon. She was acting aggressively towards me immediately and virtually shouting at me “you’ll never get a door installed without wrecking that plaster”. I said “that’s my problem Jo, I’ll see if whoever I get to do the door agrees. Besides, what’s the issue, we agreed to walk away with just the patio door so it’s not your problem”. “Yes” shouted Jo, “but now we’ve had another meeting with the Director and there’s a door to pay for”. I explained it wasn’t my fault, I’d been clear about the plastering work and pointed out that it was also clearly visible what was required when the surveyor had measured up as the renovation work was significantly underway. Jo continued to harass me until I had to leave for a work call. So Ebor are a company that allegedly don’t make mistakes. Yet they can’t even get basics like a door stay and a window hinge right. They also send out a different person to measure up from that who does the installation, which increases the chances of errors. They have that much work on that they can’t respond to basic correspondence for weeks. They have so little integrity, that they can happily agree one thing in the morning with you, and then ring you back in the afternoon completing reengaging on what was agreed and trying to bully you into handing over money to pay for their mistakes. Don’t fall for the ‘family business’ schtick and avoid this dishonest business at all costs.

Good luck with getting a quote from Ebor Windows. Came out to measure up for replacement windows & doors. There almost an hour & told i would have the quote in 2-3 days. Rang over a week later to find out what was happening & had to leave a voicemail. Over 2 weeks now & still nothing!
