  Probably the best GP surgery in South East London. Friendly and helpful reception staff and very good doctors and nurses and can see a Dr face to face if required within 2 weeks which is pretty good.

  I've been joined to East Street surgery for many years now. The experience in the surgery is ok But the waiting time for calls are horrendous. I wait at least 15 mins each time I want to book an appointment (even though I'm first in queue).

  I've been coming here for 7 years. I have mixed feelings about this practice. There are / have been excellent doctors (Dr Steele, Dr Mortimer, Dr Hussain). Then you have those who have no business in the medical field (Dr Abraham), who dismissed me, when suffering from serious chronic symptoms, with "Do exercise, God bless". The reception staff needs improvements. On more than one occasion they haven't picked up my calls, as other reviewers have pointed out. E.g. a month ago I did a scan. The radiologists expressed some concerns and told me I might have to get checked again. Yesterday I received an SMS "Your referral is ready for collection". I wasn't expecting one and started wondering if it was another scan I had to undergo, as previously suggested by the radiologists. I called the surgery to ask for details. The phone rang for 30 seconds without answer. When I went to the surgery, I was given a referral produced in December for the scan I had already done. Those two mistakes, combined together, have wasted quite a bit of my time. EDIT: Another mistake, another appointment of mine has been double booked. I have to get there to collect a paper to show the hospital because the GP practice can't just "cancel" it. More time wasted. EDIT 2: I've recently had a very good experience with Dr Furness. She saw me very quickly for an ear problem I was having. She was also very knowledgeable about a rare issue I have. That really made my day, and therefore the score goes back up. FINAL EDIT: I've had enough. I requested a medication for a rare condition from Dr Hussain but I've been denied because it can only be prescribed by a specialist. Fair enough. I've then seen a private specialist who has recommended that med and another one. Now I've been told that both medications can't be prescribed on the NHS because it's against their idiotic guidelines. Yes, it's an off-label usage, that's why it took a specialist to recommend them, I have a rare disorder that HAS NO MAGICAL MEDICATION to help it, so I have no choice but to try meds intended for other purposes. You're just making my life harder than it already is. I've just applied to another GP surgery, perhaps that won't be run by morons.

  The attention in this GP has significantly declined, the receptionists have no education or respect, they are called and if they do not understand you they do not attend to you. They should renew the receptionist since the current ones are not competent in their work.

  I have been to this surgery a few times, most recently when I had a bad ear infection. They usually answer the phone straight away and I have not had any problems getting appointments, even for the next day. I'm only giving 4 stars because they misdiagnosed a middle ear infection as outer ear which meant I was in extreme pain for over a week - I think they should have given antibiotics in the first instance, or at least followed up. The doctors are friendly and appear knowledgeable, but this was an unfortunate incident where a follow up appt would have really helped diagnose it correctly.

  I have been going to this surgery since I was a child and after talking to friends and family, it is definitely one of the best. I particularly think the walk in service is a great benefit and has helped me and my family many times in need. I do prefer some doctors over others, and less than a handful of times I have expected better out comes, but I do not think it is worthy of a negative review as the quality points of this surgery definitely outweigh the bad. It’s disrespectful of some people to point out specific doctors considering the efforts they put in to providing a service (the majority of which you don’t actually see in your 15min appointment out of their 12 hour day).
