Wonderful place to walk, enjoy the birds and horses. Fantastic coffee from the hatch too. Dog walkers could be more careful picking up after their dogs, there was a lot of dog mess walking along the road toward the centre and also some on the walks actually at Rainton Meadows. It seems that the Trust are trying to highlight dog waste too.

I've been visiting by this site in various manifestations for almost 60 years. Nowadays the cafe here is smart, small, friend and offers a good range of food and drinks, the corned beef pie with salad was excellent. The staff are friendly if a little quirky, it's not The Ritz so don't expect that, but you can expect good food at decent prices served with a genuine smile.
