Did a great job, from initial quote which was very thorough, kept in touch until work started and during the work. Their work was of a very high standard and looks very good (compared to a previous company who rushed the pointing). Work undertaken including re-pointing internal and external stonework, rebuild of a chimney and stone repair work around windows. Would highly recommend them and will have no hesitation in using them again.

We first met John and the team after buying our terrace house in 2016 and finding one of the chimney breasts was extremely unsafe - Durham Stonemasonry & Restoration came out quickly and addressed the poor pointing, general state of disrepair and loose/floating bricks inside the flue. Though this was a small job for the team, we were impressed with their knowledge and skill leading us to use Durham Stonemasonry & Restoration again: In 2019, when we needed help in blocking up a bedroom chimney breast, John and the team neatly and safely tidied up the chimney breast prior to the plasters arriving. In 2020, John and Lewis expertly reconstructed our chimney stack. The stack was in an very poor state. Tracy was excellent at helping with the organisation of the 50ft+ scaffold required to carry out the job safely. The chimney was dismantled carefully and all of the original bricks and pots were re-used. IA fantastic job!

With a listed house, you need to know that the team working on it has not only experience but cares for the quality of the work and is willing to pay attention to detail. A window cill and cracked quoins have so far been beautifully replaced and the team will be back to tackle the pointing in the summer. Couldn't be happier with the work. Highly recommend.
