James has been teaching me for the last 3 years and is a patient teacher with great guidance and advice. He has been very flexible as I have stopped and started lessons due to being busy and he always has a way of breaking something down to understand and learn it. Highly recommend.

My son has been enjoying drum lessons with James for 3 years. He finds the lessons fun but challenging as well and especially enjoys it when they play together. They cover a wide genre of pieces which keeps him interested. Initially the lessons were face to face, but they have transitioned to virtual due to COVID-19 and this has been a big success. The lessons work really well and have remained as popular and interactive as before. James is an excellent drum teacher. Really encouraging and easy to talk to both for my son and for me to get feedback on his progress. 100% recommendation!

Our 14yr old boy Scotty has been visiting James and currently Zooming for nearly 6 years now. Thats alot of patience for a highly strung lad who wants to be perfect all the time. However James is great with him with lots of different engaging teaching techniques, and has encouraged Scotty though practice, many auditions for the West End, different concerts, grades - esp grade6 stressful online exam and songs for his young rock band SouthStreet. In music grading terms we give James a 'distinction!'

I've always wanted to play drums, and got a few drumming lessons booked with James as a 40th birthday gift last March - and have been having them weekly since. From day one, James has been a brilliant teacher - professional, patient and detailed and has helped me develop from having never drummed before to learning to play a range of songs, building confidence and developing key techniques and patterns. All but one of my lessons have been over Zoom, and they've been brilliant. Highly recommended!!

James is an excellent drum tutor. My son has been learning with him for a few years now and loves the lessons, which are always fun & engaging whilst also being objective-focused. James clearly has an in-depth knowledge of different styles of music & can immediately start teaching a song on request, making it appropriate for my son's current skill level. He has encouraged him to experiment with different styles too (not just rock!) The switch to online learning hasn't been a problem as James helped us to set everything up correctly and his energy still comes through on-screen :-) We even upgraded to the full hour lesson recently which has been a great decision.

I have been learning the drums with James for a few years now and since April 2020 have been having remote 1-1 lessons with him over Zoom. Although maybe person-to-person lessons would be preferable, the Zoom lessons have continued to be just as effective and just as great. He was even extremely helpful giving technical support to get me up and running online. He is able to share music scores as well as demonstrate on his drum kit over Zoom. I don't feel that I have missed out at all having online lessons and have continued to greatly improve my technical skills thanks to James' really good teaching. Thanks James.

My son has been having drumming lessons with James for around 4 years now, mostly in person, but online via Zoom for the last 9 months. James is a very patient teacher, who is able to engage well with his students. He has supported my son when working on music gradings, but has also been happy to let him explore different types of music between gradings. As a former teacher, I know that online lessons are not always easy, but James has worked hard to ensure the online lessons are of the same high quality as the in-person ones. I would highly recommend him.
