I’ve been playing drums with Alex for a little under a year and it’s been so gratifying to see how much my drumming has improved because of the lessons I’ve been taking at Drumhub 🎉 Alex is a fantastic drummer and teacher, which is exactly the combination you want in someone you’re learning from. He’s very patient, very good at simplifying musical theory so that it’s relatable and interesting and is always happy to tailor the lessons to match what you’re wanting to learn. He strikes a really good balance between teaching interesting concepts and essential techniques. I couldn’t recommend him enough — thanks for all your wisdom and time mate! 🙏

Difficult to recommend Alex more! Having played a few instruments in the past but being a total beginner on drums it could have been easy for me to get frustrated with my playing quickly, but the really simple to digest introductory principles couldn’t have been better explained, with enough variety in the exercises to keep things interesting for a long time. Alex is always able to bring it back to practical examples of real world application of the techniques making the lessons really fun - I left feeling totally inspired after a couple of lessons and continue to practice loads several months on. The beat breakdown videos on his website are awesome too.

Drum Hub is a brilliant environment if you’re a beginner drummer! I’d never had drum lessons before, and Alex was able to break down the rhythms very clearly and explain it in a way I understood, as well as being able to demonstrate at various speeds so I could follow along, but also see the progression. I especially enjoyed when he would teach a backbeat and then play a song that uses that same backbeat, and then work towards me playing along; or sometimes even asking me for a song I wanted to learn and then simplifying it for me. Alex was also very encouraging as I would sometimes get frustrated at myself, and was able to answer any questions I had - giving extra information and explaining how to read music or other things about the industry where necessary. More practically, he was able to accommodate lessons around my busy schedule which I was very appreciative of, and he’d always ask how my week had been and remember things I’d told him I was up to the week before, so he really felt like a genuine person who cared! If my schedule hadn’t got even busier, I would for sure still be having lessons there, and I hope to go back one day :)

I couldn't wish for a better learning experience. It's due to Alex's talents as a teacher that I've felt so motivated to continue learning, with so much joy, it's by far the highlight of my week. I couldn't recommend lessons here more highly to anyone who wants to give learning the drums a go.
