One the 18th May I was interested in test driving Used Mercedes E class. My partner and I was assigned to salesperson Adam Smith. We were made aware that there was another individual on-site that is willing to put in an offer for the same car. We discussed the car and potential purchase terms before test driving it for 5 minutes around the area due to the time now being after office open hours and felt pressured but proceeded to make a £1,000 deposit, only amount suggested by Adam apart from full price. The following day I started having doubts about this very pressured rushed decision. Also, following a discussion with my current modified car insurance company, I was told they would not cover this vehicle as it is unmodified. Due to lack of time during my work hours I asked my partner to inform Adam about issues and us potentially expressing our wishes to back out from the deal. During her phone call Adam proceeded to say that the dealership will not consider returning the £1,000 pounds deposited. Adam insisted that deposit is non-refundable as he recalls saying 'Are you sure' to us before the deposit was made on the 18th. She was taken back as we was never told deposit was non-refundable. This has therefore caused her anxiety and distress as she felt we are now trapped and left with no option but to proceed with the purchase. She requested for another test drive on Sunday, but Adam sounded to be disappointed. I called Adam to discussed the situation but he deflected and continued with saying deposit will not be refunded. I therefore, agreed after his aggressive selling tactics to view car again later that day at 1730pm. Feeling pressured and after the test drive me and my partner agreed for the collection on the Saturday 20st of May. After picking up the car and using it freely the Mercedes appeared to have faults that I was distracted away from before the sale. Faults, such as a knocking sound on the driver-side front suspension, parking release break sticking and not releasing after pulling the handle 3 times, parking sensors alarming only at dangerous distances to objects when parking, the car also throwing unexplainable emergency close distance warnings whilst driving despite no vehicle or obstacle being near. Having discovered all these faults with the car, it is now just parked at home due to fear of causing an accident. The car has only travelled approximately 150miles since pick up from Drive Direct.

You would think that buying a car from a main dealer rather than Phil’s car lot down the arches would be a seamless relaxed affair?…….Not so. Firstly the car wasn’t ready on time, so I had to mess around changing insurance at a cost to me. Ok so these things happen. When I eventually did get to pay and pick my car up, the salesman all smiles while the paperwork was being done just handed me the keys in the car lot and basically let me get on with it…no introduction to the car whatsoever. Within 8 miles of driving away from the dealership the tyre pressure warning light came on. Called the salesman to which he replied, “give it a couple of days, prob sort itself out”… Two days later I have another flashing warning light to add ,and a on screen message……chassis control system failure….and I also found out that the engine under tray was missing!. After an awful lot of dialogue it was a agreed that Leicester’s Nuneaton branch would do the necessary repairs. Great. Nuneaton had the car for 3 days and did nothing. They were waiting to get the repairs sanctioned by Leicester. I needed my car back so I collected it. Car went into Nuneaton last week, they had it for a day and a half….replaced the exhaust pressure sensor, The tyre pressure warning light is still ever present on my dash, they didn’t fit the under tray and the windscreen had a stone chip which was not there when I dropped it off. Tried calling the dealerships today and basically just got the run around. The moral of this long winded story is do not put your faith in these large dealerships, they only exist to make money, the general public are there to be harvested.

First I get told we don't do work for my insurance company then I get told 5 week wait just to get a bodywork estimate for insurance. I haven't had an accident for a while but in the past it's taken 15 mins to get a estimate. The lady I spoke to on the phone could sound happier or do with some training.

We booked a car in for some routine service work at Drive Vauxhall Leicester. The work was completed and my other half was heading to pick it up when she got caught in traffic which put her to arrive later than their closing time unexpectedly. We had a courtesy car provided for the day and the insurance was only covered up until 6pm. So at 5:45pm I called the mainline and the sales team in Middlesbrough to find out what to do. We felt the team went above and beyond to work out how to sort the problem, even discussing options with the head of the call team and the regional manager really quickly. In the meantime, my other half got to the Leicester garage - 45mins after they closed. When she got there one of their Leicester team had decided to wait after hours for her to arrive as they knew she was on her way. They got the courtesy car booked back in and handed over our car that had gone in for work done. All in all we felt the whole Drive Vauxhall team both at Leicester and the central call centre went above and beyond. Would happy consider them again based off just this experience.
