  Ben is an exceptional teacher who transformed my experience of auditioning with his thoughtful and specific approach. Working with Ben has immeasurably developed my confidence as an actor and my sense of craft. I feel very thankful for his help this year. I went into each audition with belief in myself and a desire to share the material we had chosen carefully together, thanks to Ben's attention to my individual needs. His support throughout the year was unfailing, planning an approach to every recall at each school, and keeping material fresh and invigorated later on in the year with new exercises and angles on my speeches. Most importantly, I felt permission to be completely honest about my concerns and insecurities as an actor thanks to Ben's rare ability to create a sense of openness and playfulness in our sessions, as well as his own honesty in sharing his experience an actor and teacher. My sessions with Ben became something I looked forward to every time we arranged to meet, and a part of me already misses exploring the speeches which I grew to love over the year. Ultimately, I applied for 7 courses, with 5 recalls, 4 final recall invitations, and 2 offers. Having applied the year before without success, I can say with certainty that Ben made a vast difference to my experience.

  It was really tough trying auditioning for UK drama schools while I was living in Tokyo and I was so scared about all the process.. But Ben showed me what I needed to work on SO CLEARLY so that I could trust his words and never got lost on the way. We just had 3 sessions over a month before the auditions but I did learn and discover a lot and really enjoyed my audition experience! And I’m so happy to get an opportunity to start my journey at Central finally!!

  I would recommend Benjamin to anyone who is looking for support with their audition materials! In my first year of applying to drama schools I received no recalls, but after working with Benjamin over the past few months I have both degree and foundation offers with top drama schools, as well as being on a waitlist. The process helped me find the perfect speeches and I left every session seeing significant improvement in my pieces. Whilst knowing what areas I need to improve on to take them to the next level. Again I could not recommend Benjamin enough and without him I do not believe I would have achieved the success I have this year.

  First of all, if you’re here and your reading this, you’ve already made the right decision! This is quite long but worth the read so hang tight. Nearly a year ago, I decided to apply to drama school with no prior experience of the craft whatsoever. So I went searching for a tutor specific to drama school auditions and after reading the reviews like you are now, I met Ben. Ben is extremely specific and personal to the talent you bring to the table and sees how YOU can further develop it. There is no formula he uses but rather, he gives you the opportunity to really explore text and uncover truths you wouldn’t otherwise discover. He ensures that EVERY time you go into a monologue, it’s as fresh as the first time you delivered it. He throws ideas your way and gives you a gentle nudge further into your optimum potential. Ben is so invested in your individual artistic growth and independence that he sort of carves you into this artist who has agency of your own process. And I think that’s what really gives you momentum when going in for callbacks. He is also such a professional and sits down to plan out the pieces specific to the schools that you’re applying to, ensuring that the text chosen portrays your talent in the best light. I CANNOT emphasize enough that without Ben’s help, I would not have been able to secure a place at Central-CDT course, LAMDA’s MFA course and finally at RADA! Treat every session of Ben’s with the same import and professionalism you would going into your auditions and see what sorts of results you achieve!

  I found working with Benjamin to be a very eye opening experience. There were things I realised that I hadn’t yet seen before, ideas grasped that I wasn’t clear with previously, a level of freedom in performance unlocked that I hadn’t reached yet and above all I had a lot of fun! With just a few classes with Benjamin, I got my audition pieces to a level capable of being accepted to the diploma in acting and theatre at the Lír! I’m over the moon and incredibly glad that I decided to work with Benjamin towards achieving this. I would strongly urge anybody even considering drama school to do the same- you will not be disappointed!

  I came to Benjamin in a last minute stress to find a monologue for an audition with very short notice - I had felt like I'd exhausted every other option and still couldn't find a monologue that excited and felt right for me. In the space of one session he gave me various amazing options (which he suggested based on the kind of writing style / character type etc. that I personally liked and was hoping to find), he helped me narrow these down to my favourite, and helped me think about how I'd approach it. I really wouldn't have thought I could get so much out of just one session - he was so efficient with the short time we had, and he was personal with his suggestions, but also very patient and really listened to what I was hoping to get out of the monologue. Before contacting Benjamin, I wasn't sure that it would be worth asking for help with such short notice before the audition, but I am SO glad I did. With his help I got into my dream school. Highly recommend!

He gave me a new perspective on my speeches which not only earned me a place at my top drama school but also gave me an approach to acting that I will take with me throughout my training.   I started taking classes with Benjamin in order to prepare for my drama school auditions and due to his hard work, I have received offers from NYU, Pace univeristy, AMDA and Marymount manhattan! Benjamin is an incredibly talented and passionate coach, with whom it is always a pleasure to work with. When I first started taking class with him, I knew very little about how to perform shakespeare monologues (which are essential for drama school auditions). Benjamin guided me through each monologue, and he also made sure to help me pick my monologues carefully. He put in the time and effort in order to find monologues which suited me. We also worked on modern monologues and he taught me how to understand the story I am portraying, which is what I believe got me through so many auditions. Every session we did was always so much fun as he is such an inspiration and is always there to guide you through your work. He taught me acting techniques which I will forever be using in my work and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing, talented and inspirational coach.
