Dr Catherine Spencer Smith has helped me out immeasurably over the years as I have turned up with innumerable injuries. She has a wealth of knowledge about all sports injuries, in particular about women's sports injuries and hormonal cycles and autonomics. It has made such a difference to my training working with Cath, understanding how my body works (that as a woman I'm not just a 'small man') and understanding various traits I have. Cath helped diagnose me with hypermobility/ POTS, has booked me in for bone dexa scans to monitor RED-s and passed me on to other specialists when required. Working with Cath has gotten me back on my feet multiple times allowing me to compete, but also I have been able to understand what my body needs and requires long term meaning I can avoid injury and continue to perform.

She has huge expertise in managing endurance athletes, with persistent tendon related pain, bone stress injuries and persistent hip/knee and ankle problems, who represent the majority of my patient caseload. She is able provide fantastic patient care; combining patient empathy and expert guidance on the optimal treatment/rehabilitation plan. I suffered from back, hip and thigh pains for several months and found that everyday activities like walking, driving and even lying down were causing pain. As the nature of the pain was nagging, and stretches didn't seem to relieve it, I was concerned that I may have a permanent condition that couldn't be treated. I did a bit of online research to find a good specialist who may be able to help and found Dr Catherine Spencer-Smith. I booked a consultation and from the moment I arrived at the clinic she was welcoming, attentive and reassuring. She asked questions regarding my symptoms, exercise habits and everyday activities, observed me performing various movements, and conducted a few movement tests before referring me for an MRI scan. Following the MRI scan I returned to her for the results. She talked me through the details of the MRI and informed me of the diagnosis - gluteal tendinopathy. She explained things clearly and answered all of my questions thoroughly. She reassured me that it could be successfully treated with physiotherapy and referred me to an excellent physiotherapist. She also gave me advice on what movements, exercises and postures to avoid. Following the physio programme I now practice a few basic daily exercises and am pain-free! I'm so grateful for the wonderful treatment I received from Dr Catherine Spencer-Smith and her lovely staff - I couldn't recommend her clinic highly enough!
