I started working for this company through McCarthy Contracts Ltd (agency) and from the very first day, I had nothing but negative experiences. Firstly, the forman was inexperienced and incredibly rude to all of the workers. The work being carried out was not up to standard. Having worked in construction for many years, I am aware of health and safety and certain regulations which must be adhered to - but rarely was! The wellbeing of the staff was never a priority. The hours which are expected for us to work were unusually long and I also witnessed very loud arguments with the client (Lidl). I wasn't paid for 12 days of work. I showed up daily and worked till late and also worked over a weekend to get a particular job done in time for a major deadline. I feel that I was used and when I asked for help with my wages, I was ignored and kept being fobbed off. I would avoid this company at all costs, whether you're a potential client or employee. I will be contacting the HSE.
