A memorial to RMS Douro, a passenger steam ship that sank in 1862 (not to be mistaken for the controversial ship Douro which sank in 1834). The captain and 5 members of her crew perished when they collided with another ship, a Spanish steamer, Yurak Bat off the coast of Spain. 32 members of her crew and all the 112 passengers survived but the loss on the Yurak Bat was much greater with the loss of 53 lives. Like many graves in the cemetery there are many such memorials, from the Titanic to other ships, there are no bodies of the deceased present.
