Vaida is the most amazing doula, I couldn’t have done it without her. She has a very calming personality. It is one of the best choices I had made to ask her to guide me through birth. I felt much stronger mentally with her there. She respected my choices, without judgement, and during birth she helped me make sure I had what I needed. I still remember her encouraging words, and her comfort while I was in labour. She’s an absolute legend, and I am forever grateful for her pivotal role she played at the very start of my son’s life.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Vaida and Simi. Hiring them as our doulas was the smartest thing we did to prepare for our little one joining us. We were nervous first time parents and they reassured us, giving us the support we needed again and again through visits, calls, and many, many texts. They are an endless source too for all things baby. They helped with breast feeding, connecting me with a great post natal masseuse, and directed us to informative and helpful websites regarding several concerns or questions. Their vast knowledge and experience is amazing. Vaida was full of compassion and calmed me while labouring at home as well as at hospital. My husband and I were both able to relax more at hospital knowing we had someone in our corner who would help ensure we received the birth experience we were hoping for. I have recommended them to all my friends and after sharing our experience, even friends who are not first time mums or who had gone private said they would like to hire a doula in future. I tell everyone who asks that I have two great women I would recommend to anyone. Thank you Vaida and Simi for making our birth experience what we wanted it to be and for taking such good care of us!

As a first time mum, I was nervous in the lead up to the birth of my daughter. Vaida and Simi were both great resources. Going through what could happen during the birth, and what options we had should things go sideways went such a long way to helping me feel empowered and informed, and made me feel so much less scared of labour. Vaida attended the birth and was a very calming influence, which was great as it started out stressfully! My husband was really grateful to have someone there who knew what to expect and could help him to understand what was normal. After the birth, both Vaida and Simi were great, they came to see me and Lana, helped me to talk through my feelings about the birth, weighed her, helped by calling the hospital when my paperwork was sent to the wrong place, and Simi came over several times to help me with latching and positioning when I struggled with pain when breastfeeding. Vaida even brought us cake! Overall, both of us were so happy for the support we had before, during and after the birth. Hiring a doula was a great investment and Vaida and Simi were a fantastic choice, I would recommend them to anyone!

After a horrible induced labour that resulted in an emergency C section with my first, when I found out I was pregnant with my second, I knew I needed extra external support out of the NHS. I came across Vaida on the Doula website and we arranged a meeting at my house. I felt comfortable with her immediately and she was a great support through the last few weeks of pregnancy, helping me believe in myself that I could achieve a natural birth after a C section. Throughout this period, Vaida provided reading materials that helped me channel positively into my ability of having a natural birth which was almost an impossible dream in the beginning. On labour day, I stayed home as long as I could and I called Vaida who agreed with us that it was time to go to the hospital. By the time we got to triage, I was already 8cm dilated and we made our way to labour ward, where Vaida was able to communicate my requests to the medical team including birthing using a birthing stool. I was so in control this time around that I didn't even need any pain relief. Having her with us made such a difference and we were actually listened to by the medical staff. All the meetings and resources prior to labour, helped me to mentally and physically prepare myself for the big day. I can't recommend Vaida enough. Thank you for allowing me such a beautiful experience and for helping me believe in myself.

Vaida was only a doula-in-training when she acted as doula for me, and yet, I give her 5 stars as if she had been a fully qualified doula already. It was my second home-birth. I realised after my first home-birth that a doula would have fixed some holes in our experience. We were committed to finding one when I became pregnant with my second. I answered an ad I saw locally for a doula-in-training. Vaida and I met and I felt instantly at ease with her. We met a couple times prior to the birth and as the date approached I kept her abreast of any news. I was almost a week late but I told her when my waters broke so she could be on stand by. The moment I decided I wanted her, she came over to help. She was so intuitive about my needs. I really worried on the day that she would just be in the way if she felt she needed to "do something" and that would stress me out. I get very private when in labor like most women. But she didn't! She relaxed in a chair and faded into the background until she was needed. And needed she was when the time came!!! We had issues with having enough hot water to fill the birthing pool and she just put a huge pot of water to boil on the hob just in case! Then later the pool began to leak and my husband, who up till that time had been my birthing partner of choice, had to deal with it. I sensed he was getting very tired anyway and needed a break. And I was only becoming more intense. He had to let in the new midwife, get rounds of tea, etc. Frankly, I'm glad because he wouldn't have had it in him to do what Vaida did for me. I was just going into transition and she helped me with every single breath to control my breathing to get the maximum amount of oxygen to my womb. It feels much better to breath this way but it is the hardest thing in the world to do: to control the rage or pain or whatever at this stage. Staying in control is the best way I've found of pushing a baby out. Vaida made it an almost transcendent experience because she alone, I feel, kept me in that place of control and total presence. We may have both cried when he came popping out into the pool. What a relief it was when his head was out but one has to make sure the rest of the baby follows with the next contraction. Vaida kept me from losing my concentration in the relief! My baby was perfectly healthy, lovely little boy and I didn't even tear! That's what good steady breathing will do too! It was the same length of labor as my first child but I felt so much more energetic afterwards and aware of the process with my second birth. I really believe a big part of that was having Vaida, the doula, there with me, supporting me, coaching me, and looking after me when everyone else needed a rest! And it was very nearly just Vaida and the midwife-in-training there to deliver me. Everyone was off somewhere. Ha ha ha. I believe I would have been in fine hands had it happened that way.
