Previous experiences of Doctor Call have been highly satisfactory. Unfortunately the most recent, a little less so. As always, the doctor arrived at my home promptly and was attentive, courteous, thorough and caring. He prescribed 2 medications, one of which had unfortunate side effects (as he said it might) and so could not be continued, the other was quite ineffective. I phoned in and asked for - and quickly received - a call back later which prompted then being given the advice to go to A&E, which rather defeats the object of paying for a private GP visit. I later lodged a request for a second call back later that evening but did not receive it. I went to A&E the next day and despite a five hour wait in a lot of pain, was attended to by a doctor who informed me the medication I had been prescribed was inappropriate (‘a strange choice’) advised me to stop taking it immediately and then prescribed alternatives. Within one hour of starting the new prescription I began to feel much better. It this has knocked my confidence in using DC again in the future, although if needs must, should I be in severe pain and unable to get to A&E quickly, I would probably feel there was no choice but to take the risk. However I have paid £200 plus medication fees for a wholly unhelpful experience.

Irish doctor who came was very knowledgeable and understanding. I was very impressed with him, however on a second occasion a doctor arrived who was quite surly and disinterested

What the doctor failed to tell us that on top of his £182 call out fee he then suggested a visit to another doctor and charged us £59 for the referral! I don’t agree with this

The doctor who came, Dr Sheehan, was very professional indeed, got me into hospital and accurately predicted how I would be assessed and treated. I could not rate him more highly.

HUGELY DISAPPOINTED! I absolutely could not / would not recommend Doctorcall in London, UK. At first I was so excited and hopeful that this service could help. We'd come in from the US and unfortunately on the first night my Mom (75) had a bad fall and was in a lot of pain. We did the whole Emergency Room thing and many hours of waiting etc. to find out no broken bones, just a ton of bruising on the back and ribs. After the diagnosis, we left thinking the pain would be manageable. We were wrong. Mom wasn't doing well, was in a huge amount of pain and couldn't even lay down to sleep. So when the hotel recommended Doctorcall, I thought this was really the answer. After initial coordination with a very pleasant and knowledgeable staff member (Julian??), and of course 200 pounds charged to my card, I was very hopeful Mom would get some help. 1) I was told we'd hear from the Dr in about 1.5 hrs by phone, it was closer to 3.5-4 hours and we waited so long we almost missed our lunch reservation. And yes, the Dr finally called while we were still downstairs just finishing lunch. And yes, we had to wait for her next availability. 2) After the virtual exam and interview, the Dr chastised us for using too much ibuprofen (we were NOT exceeding the daily limit) and grudgingly said she would prescribe Tramadol. Mom had taken this before in the US after surgery and tolerated it well. And the Dr did NOT provide any other recommendations. 3) After the evaluation, it took multiple calls/emails to finally get the eScript to show up in my email, and by that time it was already getting dark. 4) After 2 hours in the freezing cold (yes it was literally freezing 10 days before Christmas) and running to 3 different Pharmacies (it was 6:40pm and I found out that a lot of shops close earlier in UK than US), I was told that Tramadol is a controlled substance and absolutely could not be filled via eScript. 5) In desperation I started calling any Pharmacy that Google showed open (it was now after 8pm) and finally found a Pharmacist who offered to help put together something over the counter if I came by. Yes I had to go to Mayfair for this, and yes it was below freezing now, but I was really grateful that SOMEBODY in London actually listened to our problems and offered to help me. I emailed Doctorcall the next day to say I couldn't use the eScript, but it went unanswered. I gave up and we just toughed it out on our own and were very careful with low dosages of OTC meds since one had Codeine in it. Yes, my poor Mom was still pretty miserable. I called again a day or two later hoping again someone from Doctorcall could help, and spoke to the same young man from Day 1 (still very pleasant) who told me I should not have been given an eScript for Tramadol, and he would find out why no one answered my email with an issue. He would call me back within the hour (actually he said 30 minutes but I'm a nice person). In reality I waited about 2 hours before calling again and was told the guy was out, but someone would read the notes and follow up. A couple hours later I called AGAIN (no one EVER called me back that day like they said they would) and a nice lady read the notes and said the original Dr could not be reached, so the only thing they could do was an evaluation with another Dr and maybe the new Dr could "figure out" what to do. And she indicated it wouldn't be a prescription but something over the counter. Honestly, I already had OTC Meds, and a Pharmacist already helped without charging me 200+ pounds. I was so completely frustrated, and I had zero confidence that anything useful would come of trying to schedule with another virtual Dr after already spending hours and multiple calls just that day to get any kind of response. Doctorcall had many opportunities to provide great service and have a positive impact on an elderly person's quality of life. But instead they did the opposite and created a huge amount of stress as well as charge us for providing literally no helpful service. I absolutely could not / would not recommend them.

Absolutely shocking as I called and they put me through to the London branch where the person on the line had no idea of what they can offer although it was obvious on their website. no confidence in them
