Our instructors at Dive South have a minimum of 5 years of experience as Scuba Instructors. They have taught in various locations around the world, including the Caribbean, Hawaii, and the Great Barrier Reef.What is your teaching style and approach to helping new divers learn and improve their skills?
We believe in a personalized approach to teaching and strive to create a fun and relaxed learning environment. We focus on safety and ensure that all students feel comfortable and confident in the water. Our instructors work with each student individually to ensure they are progressing and improving their skills at their own pace.What certifications do your instructors hold?
All of our instructors at Dive South are certified by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and hold at least a Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification. Additionally, many of our instructors hold specialty certifications in areas such as underwater photography and wreck diving.What is your policy on rescheduling or refunding lessons if weather or other circumstances prevent diving on a scheduled date?
Safety is our top priority at Dive South, so we closely monitor weather conditions and other circumstances that may affect diving. If we determine that it is not safe to dive, we will reschedule the lesson for a later date at no additional cost to the student. I have just completed RAID Master Rescue training with the team at Dive South and it has been an exceptional experience! It had been a while since I had done any formal dive training and I wanted to build my confidence in the water so it felt like time to do my rescue diver training! I chose Dive South for their meticulous, personal approach to diver training with a real attention to detail. They really lived up to their reputation, Lisa and Rich are superb instructors with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I was a bit unsure of my abilities going into the course but their expert guidance and constructive feedback really helped me quickly move forward. So, If you're not sure about doing a course or who to choose for your training, I cannot recommend the team at Dive South enough. I will certainly be returning to them for more training and dive trips!

Absolutely the best, patient and passionate, with a real love for diving. I honestly don’t think I could have done what I did in a multi person class as I’m pretty dyslexic and was really nervous about the technical nature of understanding NITROX. They spent the time needed not the time paid for, going well over to make sure I really understood and was safe. On top of that they are thoroughly nice people you won’t regret using them.

I've recently completed my Advanced Open Water training with them. Lisa and Richard and the whole crew are fantastic divers and teachers. Can't recommend them enough! I decided on Dive South after receiving a recommendation to use them from a friend. I came to them after having only dived abroad in the past and they showed me that diving locally can be just as rewarding! I hadn't dived for over 3 years when I started the course, so we began with a Scuba refresher dive and fun dive in open water at Swanage pier. They were patient, explained everything brilliantly and made me feel at ease in UK waters. They were also very helpful and understanding about my specific needs with a spinal injury I sustained a couple of years ago. I also agreed that it was a good idea to take an additional pool session to work on my buoyancy and trim. An invaluable addition to my training. Lisa did a fantastic job helping me to improve in this area and I felt so much more confident next time I was in open water again as a result. My AOW dives consisted of Wreck and Drift boat dives from Portland, a Nav dive at Sandbanks, and DSMB and Deep dives at Vobster Quay. All were brilliant experiences, made all the better by their patient instructing and their determination that everyone who trains with them leaves a better diver than they started! All appropriate additional health and safety measures due to Covid were put into place, but this didn't hinder the diving experiences in any way. If you, like me, had only dived in tropical waters before and are missing getting under the water during the pandemic, you'll be pleasantly surprised by what our waters have to offer (a much greater variety of life under there than I expected!). If you're new to diving, it's brilliant, exciting and rewarding, and unlike any other experience you'll have had. The team at Dive South are professional, highly trained and a whole lot of fun! They're the perfect people to give you these new experiences and improve your skills under the water! Give them a go!

Another great learning experience with the guys at Dive South. Choosing RAID has been a justified decision with their technical approach and focus on being the best divers in terms of technique and ethics. I completed the Explorer 30 course with a drysuit specialty combined and it was extremely rewarding. The guys really know their stuff and help to work through the best options for the individual. Be that suit options, varying techniques and even ways of thinking about the theory to make it stick. I'm progressing much more quickly than I expected and I'm entirely sure that is predominantly due to the teaching of the guys at Dive South. Looking forward to furthering my diving journey with them soon

Incredibly happy that I decided to make the effort and travel a little farther to be trained by Dive South. they really do tick all the boxes. Their knowledge, patience and ability to suit specific ways of learning means they really do get the best out of their students. Their passion for diving is evident from the outset and extremely contagious. learning is made fun while still making sure safety is paramount. all in all, it's more like hanging out and learning from friends and that's about as high a recommendation as I could give. cheers guys
