  The room was great for just me (I was working at the hospital across the road). Bed was super comfy, and I was pleased to see a fridge in the room (8)! Plenty of tea/coffee/biscuit facilities and even 2 bottles of water. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was small but forceful. Great location, easy to find parking. I didn’t see any staff but they were available should I have needed them. Think my room was haunted though.. I had a couple of funny goings-on! I’d stay again for sure! Good for the price.

  When we arrived there was no reception desk had to phone no to be given a digital code to get in the room room was so so not bad not good we were top floor on very shallow steps ,went out one day someone was painting bannisters couldn't hold on to anything also had dust covers so hazardous partners jacket new at Xmas had paint on sleeve shower was ok if you were wee Jimmy krankie Also I think they got linford Christie to measure how far shambles is 20-25 mins away room wasn't cleaned once although cleaners were in the building

  Awful stay at this hotel. Very unimpressed. We booked to stay here as we were given a voucher which limited our options, and they had availability on the days we were visiting York. Initially we were impressed as the hotel is very close to the city centre. It is also very close to the hospital for anyone needing to visit there. Unfortunately that's where it all went down hill. We were shown into our room, and as the staff member showed us around she was spraying febreeze in front of us. This made it appear that they weren't ready for us, despite checking in after the time they requested. The need for febreeze was very evident as there was a strong reek of cigarette smoke in the room. Some of the other guests were clearly there for a party as they were drinking and smoking in their rooms and shouting out of the window through the night. The hotel have clear rules on no smoking and no drinking. The room itself was adquate, but very run down. Chest of drawers broken, shower stained, soap dispenser broken and more. Throughout our stay we only saw a member of staff on check in and once as we left, so despite wanting to report our concerns we were not able to. Following our departure we have complained but the hotel were unwilling to issue any compensation, fortunately the voucher company have provided a gesture of goodwill as an apology. Overall, unimpressed and will definitely not revisit! Would rather be in a chain like premier inn, which is a shame. This kind of experience is the reason the hotel industry is struggling.

  Our room on the first floor was clean and tidy. The beds were comfy and well presented. The bathroom was clean and looked nice too. However the hot water tap turned round when trying to turn it on and off. The seals on the shower doors were fitted the wrong way round so the doors didn’t stop in the right place when they were closed. The shower head was reluctant to stay up and kept sagging. It was inexpensive and close to the hospital, so all in all it was good for the one night we needed it for. Not much work required to improve it. We had relatives staying on the ground floor. Their room was not a nice as ours. Very basic.

  We enjoyed our short stay here at Diamonds Lodge. I booked the quadruple en-suite room for me and my family and it was clean, spacious and the beds were comfy. The staff were friendly and attentive and let us check-in early to drop our bags off even though the room wasn't ready yet. The hotel is about a 15 min walk to York city centre. They have car permits and there is also a public stay car park up the road. Would stay here again!
