Lazy service, lack of guidance and communication. I am getting married in Devon, but with many friends getting married else where in the country it's become very clear that Devon ceremonies really do leave you in the dark when it comes to getting married. Friends in other counties, get a welcome pack that gives you examples of songs, ideas for readings, guidance on what to expect on the day, choices of vows etc, other friends have had emails which outline the same thing but in a digital format. But we paid our fee up front, and got nothing. No email, no pack, no guidance of what to expect at all. It actually causes a lot of stress and anxiety to be left totally in the dark. Having emailed and asked for some information, I just received an email saying "Here in Devon we get in touch 2 weeks before". This seems so last minute! I then emailed again asking if we need to submit songs, and got an email with a link to a document to submit songs. But having paid the fee, it is not my job to do the chasing for the expectations of what to expect on my wedding day. I think it would be good to send an email, with everything outlined and links to the documents. Feels very lazy, I am not impressed compared to the level of service and communication given by other counties. However they have always emailed back within 48hours, but it's never really that enlightening, just repeating that it will be sorted 2 weeks before. In the end I have had to borrow my friends ceremony information pack provided by Cornwall, just to know what to expect.

Thank you to the very wonderful Neil and Kathryn who conducted our wedding ceremony in August. You were both ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We had no idea a ceremony could be so personal. You put us both at ease (when we were a little nervous!) and were both responsible for making our ceremony as wonderful as it was. It was the perfect mix of emotional and a little bit witty! You're a true credit to the Devon Registry Service and any couple who gets you at their ceremony is incredibly lucky. Many of our guests said it was the nicest ceremony they have been to. Thank you!

My husband and I got married at Larkbeare house on Tuesday 13th April, a day after lockdown rules were starting to reduce. The ceremony was beautiful. The reading and vows brought tears to our eyes, it was better than we imagined it to be. The officials were lovely and took their time making our moment unique and special. They allowed us to take photos in the beautiful garden afterwards, we didn’t feel any pressure to leave. The whole process was welcoming and relaxed. Our wedding wasn’t what we had originally planned thanks to Covid but we don’t feel we lost out on making our day a wonderful memory we will cherish, in fact it felt more personal and intimate. Thank you Devon Registery office ... we definitely recommend you!

Huge thanks to Anna & Clive who changed their schedule at very short notice this week to officiate at our daughter's re-arranged wedding yesterday. They were brilliant & made the revised family-only ceremony so personal & special. We can't thank them enough for what they did & how they did it. It means everything to our daughter & now son-in-law to finally be married. Thank you so much for making it possible!!
