If you are looking for a classical guitar tutor Derek is the man. As a retired guy with no previous musical background I had lots of enthusiasm but low expectations. However Derek has a lovely teaching style which is both positive and encouraging. If you want to learn or improve I believe Derek will get you there. Give him a try. You will not regret it. I started with Derek's 'Guitar Workshop' in Farlington in Jan. 2010. In addition, I began individual lessons with him some months later. It has proved to be an enjoyable experience with plenty of musical variety in the pieces he sets. His good-humoured, patient approach helps me to get the best out of every lesson. At home, I enjoy playing a steadily growing repertoire of pieces whilst making progress in my playing skills and musical knowledge.

I've been with Derek for several terms now - I thought I'd left it too late to lear to play a musical instrument, but it's been really rewarding. He's taught me to read music, and I've learned to play music from around the world - South American, European, Japanese. I love playing my guitar - it's a real chance to relax at the end of the day. Derek is very patient and encouraging, and I've never felt any pressure.
