Just Me
Excellent railway model shop. Unlike most shops this is ALL model railway so has a larger selection than you find in vegetal model shops. It's actually around the back of the boutique that's shown in the pictures, up some stairs and covers 3 small rooms. Nice selection of N-gauge which is unusual in many shops, very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman at the desk. Prices were cheaper than other places I've been, and as I said the selection of products was better. I couldn't resist buying the latest DMU speed whiskers with DCC sound fitted (£271) which they had in stock. This is rare as hens teeth in N-gauge at the moment. I'll definitely be back.

A certain Liverpool based discounter used to be my go-to place for model railway goods thanks to their prices that always seemed cheaper than anyone else and their slick mail order operation. But seeing the plight of small businesses during lockdown made me question whether I had the right strategy. Sadly, the London area is very short on model railway dealers and so I have no choice other than to use mail order and it was pure luck that I found Derails' website which indicated that the items I was looking for were in stock. What's not to like about this place - family run business with a nice back story, good prices and the option of free postage if you're happy to wait a day or two. I wasn't so paid the extra for next day delivery and the goods were in my hands just after 10:00am this morning, well packed and exactly as ordered less than 24 hours previously. Box shifters who can afford 8 page ads in the railway modeller are all very well but it's places like Derails that deserve our customer because they quite obviously care about the customer as well as their bottom line. I only wish I lived close enough to visit their shop.
