On our recent trip in England we found that there were new 20 pound notes and the old ones from our trip in May are no longer accepted. It was difficult to exchange them without having a bank account in England or being able to visit one of the few official exchange points. But thankfully a young gentleman at the Hawes post office helped us out and took them back and exchanged them for us. This saved us a lot of searching and trouble on our further journey.
