I am writing this review as a very different person than the person that found himself at the entrance to the Delamere Health Centre 2 months ago. I am an alcoholic of 62 years, a successful business man. I have a wonderful family and the most amazing partner (of some 35 years) a beautiful home and pretty much I want for nothing. Many of us albeit with addiction or just because we feel there is no where left to go, we say to ourselves "I want the world to stop turning so that I can get off" It did! and I started my incredible journey of recovery at the Delamere. From the initial greeting to the final exit of the 28 days I was cared for ,looked after, shown how potentially to live a better life and how to deal with all of my demons. I was also gifted with additional support from the other addicts all sharing their own journeys which helped us all in so many ways The journey of recovery outside of the Delamere would be difficult, but they taught me how to be prepared for the unexpected and I have continued to stick to the plan, my plan of recovery and so far so amazingly good. I cannot thank all the team at the Delamere enough, from the therapists, nurses, mentors, cleaning and catering staff. All were compassionate, never judged and cared everyday for my wellbeing. If the Delamere was a Restaurant, Hotel, Holiday, I would give it a 5* although this would be one place that I wouldn't want to return to :0)) Thank you all for everything. For anyone suffering addiction and need genuine help I would recommend The Delamere Health Centre without hesitation

I arrived in Delamere Rehab a few days after my mind, body, and spirit, decided that I had had enough of alcohol and its multi-layered misery. Delamere became a much longed for springtime, after a depressive winter of addiction. The beautiful buildings, rooms, grounds, food, and those who care for so many, have person-centred therapy weaved throughout. Delamere is a tapestry of love. Team Delamere understands the language of freedom from misery, that I yearned for, became aware of, realised, in order to grow into who I am really meant to be; without reliance on the things that do not nourish. I found the holistic approach beneficial from the day I entered, to this moment. I have never craved alcohol since the day I arrived in that tranquil oasis of calm; thanks to the freedom Delamere and another power gifted me. But I could only receive that gift when I surrendered and walked away from the many catalysts that had me trapped in a cycle of despair and destruction. Today, a year on, "I feel no more aloneness, with that awful ache, so deep in the heart of every alcoholic that nothing, before, could ever reach it. That ache is gone and never need return again. Now there is a sense of belonging, of being wanted, needed, and loved. In return for a bottle and a hangover," I have been given the keys to open the doors to peace, one day at a time. Though it feels like the war is over, I remain ever vigilant, thanks to the tools, thanks to the poetry of recovery, that is Delamere. Quote from AA The Big Book (p. 276)

This place changes your whole perception of life. Take everything in and interact with the people and you find yourself as a different person who is able to grow connections with people you never thought you would. Being sober and going to delamere has been the best life decision I have made yet. Don’t let it get too late.

My experience at Delamere was overwhelmingly positive. I received a very high level of care in every area. Support from my Recovery Mentor was above and beyond any expectations I had, and provided me with ways to deal with a huge number of practical issues in my onwards journey. Likewise, one-to-one psychotherapy helped me come to terms with a wide range of issues which both led to and were caused by my struggles with addiction. Group sessions covered a wide range of matters and practices pertinent both to understanding and living with addiction. All of the Therapists, Recovery Mentors, Nursing Staff and other specialist staff members provided a fantastic level of treatment which not only helped me in the immediate here-and-now of my Treatment Programme at Delamere but also enabled me to consider possibilities available for life in recovery upon leaving. The grounds, accommodation, food, and facilities available at Delamere are all of a very high level of quality and comfort. I was made to feel very welcome and well-supported during my time there. Forms of treatment such as Reiki and Equine Therapy were also made possible for me to participate in, which gave me a broad scope of understanding in terms of ways in which addiction can be managed and dealt with. My treatment at Delamere has made an enormous difference to me in every area of my life. I was given fantastic practical support repairing relationships with family, as well as suggestions to help me maintain my recovery after leaving treatment.

I attended Delamere for 28 days in April 2022 . On arrival I was in a pretty poor state due to alcohol abuse. I consider myself to be an alcoholic. I can’t control my drinking. On arrival I was greeted by the admissions team and they settled me into a spotless,en-suite,well furnished room. I was made very much ,at home . During my stay, every aspect of recovery was dealt with in the most professional way. Every member of staff showed amazing commitment and support to their clients . In particular I would personally thank Andrew,my therapist and Adam, my mentor. For anyone seeking help in recovering from addiction, I could not recommend Delamere highly enough. Top marks from me ,in every respect. Ken Strolin

Having been in recovery many years I feel obligated to warn anyone about advising their loved ones or if you are considering rehab to think twice before using this facility. Our family member had her rings stolen whilst staying in this establishment. The support she received was appalling. All they worried about was their legal position. I personally emailed 3 times for updates to Alex a so called helper. He completely ignored us but made sure he told us prior to ignoring every email that our family member should have put her rings in the safe as did Tracy the nurse who told her to her her face. Being in recovery myself I’m disgusted at the blatant disregard for the people in their care. The patient checked herself out and the Director Didn’t even know if she’d left or not and actually emailed me finally to apologise for getting her mixing her up with someone else. These people Alex I’m particular discuss me. None of them should be allowed in a caring position. Supporting emailed evidence will follow later. Think twice ! Eg Sean, My apologies, Meiling is in fact still with us here at Delamere. I am working remotely and we have a guest with similar identifiers. I am sorry for my mistake on this point. I was eager to reply to you promptly late last night and should have double checked. I understood receiving this false information will have left you feeling distressed and will assure you that processes will be put in place to ensure this will not happen again. I am available today if you wish to speak 077952438.. Kind regards Martin She had left. ….. Previously ….. Dear Alex, we still await a response from our previous emails. Is it normal practice to ignore updating assigned family members enquiries in such a case? Millie has entrusted you with safe keeping and to be honest this doesn’t look like this is been taken seriously. We again request the point of contact for the police and incident reference number. This lack of action and stress has caused Millie a direct effect on her recovery and we are pretty shocked at the lack of resolve and due diligence taken thus part to keep us informed so we are able to support from our end. Please can you report on what is asked. This can not be regarded as an internal incident. This is a police and legal matter where the designated family and person in your care should be fully updated and involved. “PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EMAIL the office and ask for an update from Johnson’s !!!! They MUST have done the washing from here by now !!!! It’s only a small drop as they only have 25 rooms here !!!! The rings MUST have been thrown into the wash by now and either have been found or are sitting in the filter.”

If you are looking for an excellent place to undertake a rehabilitation for an addiction, Delamere is definitely the place to go. The quality of the work they cover is excellent and varied and you leave with a wealth of knowledge and tools to help you in your onward journey of sobriety/recovery. The staff are all amazing, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The food served daily is excellent and varied and nothing is too much trouble if you have a specific dietary need. The accommodation itself is gorgeous and welcoming, with plenty of lounges to chill out in the evening. I met some lovely people in my time at Delamere and I would definitely recommend Delamere to anyone who was thinking of rehabilitation. They even provide an after care service for 12 months and telephone calls from your mentor to check on your progress. Definitely 5 stars+ from me. Thank you Delamere I couldn't have done it without you all.

As a young woman going into somewhere like Delamere isn’t something you would expect, however going to Delamere was the best decision I ever made in my life. The team at Delemere supported me through a very challenging time in my life and taught me many things I will keep with me for the rest of my life. I stayed at delamere for 6 weeks and was looked after and guided by the specialists and support teams throughout. I couldn’t recommend this programme enough to anyone who may think they are in need of help.

Having previously viewed a couple of rehabs I chose Delamere. This was because it didn't base recovery on the 12 step programme, it seemed very relaxed and unpretentious, also it's not like other rehabs and has their own programme. Upon entering I had mixed emotions, namely anxious, excited and apprehensive. Oddly I left with the same emotions but for very different reasons. The people I met at Delamere were warm and welcoming and, of course, we all had one thing in common, addiction. My addiction was alcohol. The tools I learnt to help me in the future were invaluable and have assisted immensely in my recovery upon returning home. My therapist was, in my opinion, the best I've ever had. She was actually interested and made me see things in a different way to how I was seeing them. These 1:1 sessions got emotional and were tiring but so worthwhile as I had very deep routed issues spanning back many years which I had buried for so long. My skeletons finally came out of the closet and were laid to rest which, I believe, has been a major factor in moving forward. I could go on but I worry people will start reading this and then get bored so I'd better cut it short! On a final note I made some very good friends and we support each other back in the real world as that is where all the triggers are. It's not easy but so far I'm quite proud of my achievement. I've been sober since 10th Jan 2023 and long may it continue, only I hold the key to my future success. I must add since returning nome I've not slept this well for 20+ years. It's bliss not waking up at 2 am dehydrating and guzzling water for the rest of the night. The quality of my life has dramatically improved and I believe I am a far nicer person without alcohol. If you have any questions/queries the Admissions Team are on hand to answer them, no matter how irrelevant you feel they may be.
