Ignore posts commented years ago, Debra has new staff and a make over. Well worth a visit in the current climate for a bargain across the board, not just furniture but everything you may need from media to fashion

Please donate to another worthwhile charity, such as St Christopher's next door. Very rude pick up drivers and generally a very difficult experience. Avoid.

The manager and staff at DEBRA in Orpington are fantastic. They really helped out when it came to making a collection from my parents' house. I am delighted that the furniture we were able to donate has gone to a great cause. Thank you Katerina!!!

Awful experience. Left feeling humiliated after trying to donate a perfectly acceptable three piece suite and a washing machine. When I booked the collection, I checked with the woman on the phone that they would take them, describing the condition and confirming relevant safety labels for the furniture. Collection drivers turned up - rude and surly. Made it clear they didn’t want to take anything. Claimed the armchair was dirty (it wasn’t, it is second hand and slightly worn on one arm). Told them that they had wasted my time and sent them off of my property. How dare this charity make me feel belittled when I was trying to help them with a donation. I have since approached a different local charity who was thrilled to be offered the goods. Give this place a wide berth - they do not deserve the help since they choose to treat people like second class citizens and how dare they send round rude and belligerent collection drivers to humiliate people

2 stars because I got a nice sofa for a decent price. However, the delivery process and rudeness of the delivery driver was shockingly bad. I paid for delivery of 2 sofas and collection and disposal of my 2 old sofas. I was informed that the sofas would be delivered/collected on Wednesday. Lunch time Wednesday came and went with no contact. I called the shop to enquire about when the sofas were due to be delivered. Without checking my name, address or anything about the order, the man on the end of the phone informed me that it would be delivered/collected today and that I would get a call half an hour before delivery. The call came in at around 6pm when the driver gave me fair warning. When he arrived, he went to the wrong house. I called 10 minutes later to check if he had found the right address. He was at another wrong address and demanded that I come and find him and guide him to the right place. It's 6.30 pm. I'm making dinner for my family. So I couldn't drop everything. He eventually found the property and proceeded to deliver the sofas into the house. I enquired about collection of the old ones and he proceeded to tell me that he would not be collecting them because it wasn't on his delivery slip. I informed him that I had paid for collection and they therefore needed to be collected today. After tooing and froing and after the delivery person being very rude and argumentative, he called the office and was informed that he was, in fact, meant to be collecting the sofas. There was no apology, he collected the sofas and left, shouting and complaining very loudly in the street following all this. Extremely bad customer service which lets down an otherwise decent secondhand furniture shop and worthwhile charity.

Very disappointed with them. The lady in the shop had no compassion at all. I was shopping for beds for the temporary homeless. I bought 2 single beds and asked if she could perhaps give it to me a little cheaper. But the answer was no. Then it was £40 on top for delivery. I said could you please do it for £20.00 Again the answer was no. I will definitely NOT be going back there. The Debra shop in Greenwich were wonderful and gave me amazing deals in the past but unfortunately did not have any single beds this time. The lack of manager's skills should seriously be looked at.

Do yourselves a favour and donate to a more deserving charity. I visited the store with detailed photos and measurements of a large garden table and 8 chairs , after showing these to three employees they all agreed that it could be taken , I wanted clarification as I did not want to load the van and waste my time , alas this is exactly what happened the furniture was unloaded the store manager then advises me that she cannot take it even after a discussion had taken place. The quality of the furniture we had donated was much better quality than what was on display and I will not be donating again , there are more deserving charities out there who are more gracious and grateful for good quality furniture donations. One star is too generous if I could give 0 I would!
