One of the joys of The Steyning Festival for me is the Daylands Farm Walk with Storytelling. Derek is so knowledgeable about his beautiful land and its use and development over the centuries. He tells of the use of particular trees, why the wild animals eat certain herbs; how to tell the age of a hedge, which trees are boundary markers, the life-cycles of the trout, eels and lampreys in his stream. Add to that the site specific storytelling of ancient tales from Jamie Crawford, with music no less, and you have a magic afternoon. Tea under the apple trees afterwards? A bonus. A lovely event and I'll do it again next year...Thank you so much, both of you.
