Driven by the hype, I booked a dinner table at this restaurant. Food is good and very enjoyable: two curries (I recommend the mutton and the beef ones) with sides and bread. The final trio of desserts was also really good. Service is ok. The reasons for the 3 stars are: - Price. I spent £80 for a set meal and one beer. Too much, definitely. I felt I was overpaying for a “nice” but not exceptional experience. - Ambiance. No tablecloths, napkins made of paper, loud environment, slow food serving times (for a meal which is almost the same for everyone and built in series). I don’t think I’d come back and I’m not sure I would recommend it to friends.

Overall disappointing dining experience @ Darjeeling express especially given all the hype and high praise. Food quality was decent but definitely not worth the extraordinarily high ticket price. Service was slow - we waited close to an hour for our food after placing our order. Slow service generally forgivable but not when price of dinner is 80 per head without alcohol

Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing everything!! My family and I stumbled upon this place and we had the best Indian meal in while traveling through London. I have an infant and the staff was so kind and caring to her. The sever brought my daughter a shot of mango Lassis and she loved it!!! They even bought her a second helping… and rice!!! We truly appreciate the love and attention from the staff. Thank you!!!!

Over hyped ordinary food, boosting about it by the owner has made it look as if it is special. Go to Dishoom or any other prominent Indian restaurant instead much better taste and variety. Vegetarian options: paneer dishes are ok.
