I am never sick and have been at Darent twice, 1 to give birth and the second for dehydration due to GI virus years ago and I was seen promptly and treated accordingly. I had to attend this week to investigate a strong lower back pain and the care received was outstanding. I had abdominal CT scan to assess all possible organs that could cause back pain; had also infection and inflammatory markers checked to assess severe hidden infection and full bloods with liver and kidney profiles to assess my health. Fortunately all results were good and I feel better. People underestimate the pressure of working seeing hundreds of people walking through the doors without an appointment receiving free medical care. I take my hat off for all health professionals working under pressure. We dont see what's happening behind doors! Keep doing an amazing work 🖤 and yes even if behind doors was chaos I still was offered tea or coffee. My birth experience at Darent was absolutely outstanding too.💫🙏

We arrived at 5am with our sick boy (the trep) after being up nearly all night. We were asked that only on adult go in with the child. Thats fine, Covid precautions and all that. At 7.30am I tried to take my wife a coffee and something to eat. Reception wouldn't let me in to give it to her. No compassion or understanding from Reception. So my wife has to spend 4 hours in A&E after being up all night, and I can even give here the coffee and snack! Reception wouldn't let me in.

After seven hours of waiting on A&E night shift children department, my daughter is not even close to see the doctor. Me:By definition A&E is an emergency department especially when your patients are children. Their excuse is :We have only one doctor..... The worse GP in this area will do better than this .

It took 3 separate visits over 4 days; spending nearly 26hrs waiting, before my daughter was eventually admitted with suspected appendicitis. The consultants are all very young and inexperienced and don’t appear to be managed or mentored to any sort of standard. Once admitted things got even worse but we are now raising complaints against the hospital and the care team with PALS as well as the CQC. The only reason they received a single star at all is because of the Google algorithm otherwise they would not have received a star at all.

The nurses in the childrens a+e seem a bit miserable and abrupt not how you should be when your treating sick children I won’t be going here again unless urgent .. may I add the doctors are lovely and friendly tho.
