(Translated by Google) Like the English country roads, the road to the car is a little rough. Instead, a very nice castle-like hotel puts you through the trouble of coming. Both the inside and outside are nice, so it was good to see it for half a day. The staff are all very friendly too. Breakfast is also made to order, so you can enjoy great meals such as eggs benedict, and dinner course dishes and bar food are also delicious. The pool is clean and there are plenty of towels. A wide, antique garden and a friendly cat are bonuses. Better than most 5-star hotels. As for the downside, there is almost no wifi available on the 3rd floor. Most Koreans only go to Cotswolds AONB, but I recommend visiting here as well if you have a chance. The nearby town of Marlowe was even more beautiful than Windsor. Son's review: Very nice. There's a swimming pool inside, and the windows are nice too. However, the swimming pool for children is very, very, very, very, very, very short.

Lovely location and excellent service. Wonderful views. Good food in restaurant. Rooms are dated, but that is probably part of their appeal.

Embarrassing. I booked my parents two nights for their 60th wedding anniversary. I have to say they had a lovely time. Unfortunately when it came to check out…. I had arranged a two night stay with dinner on the first included. I had gone over to the hotel two weeks before to say it was a present for my parents and I would be paying the bill. I asked the 4! people trying to print me an itinerary and deal with my booking not to present my parents a bill, to charge it to my card, and gave the receptionist my card details , which were also included on the book. “Please don’t give them a bill on check out, I’m paying” were my words, “no problem” they said. So, on check out they presented my Dad with a bill for two nights plus £120 for dinner. Dinner was supposed to be included. So, he says there must be a mistake, my son is paying. Confusion, embarrassment… The receptionist called me, I said why is this happening I came over two weeks ago and this was all sorted. She had no record of that conversation and said someone should have asked me to complete a third party payment form. Nobody ever asked me to do this. I was supposed to receive a call from Head of Operations on Monday to discuss but I didn’t so I am afraid I have to leave this review. I should say again, they had a lovely stay. However I’m not sure I would trust them with the arrangements for my wedding party.

I could’t wait to be back home and share this! I booked this room for my husband and I, mentioning that I have reduced mobility and couldn’t do much stairs. In fact I suffer from severe pelvic girdle pain due to my pregnancy (those who have had it will understand). They gave me a room first floor (one set of stairs) which is fair enough. In all fairness I didn’t ask beforehand if the room had a shower, as I assumed they do. Once in the room, I saw it only had a bathtub into which I can’t climb, so I called reception to ask if they could move me to a similar room but with shower. Half an hour later a lady from reception came (I was very grateful at that point) and asked us to follow her to room 221. There is where it starts: firstly the gave me a room up more stairs. i thought ok it’s not too many, I’ll make an effort. Now this room was smaller, the bed was much smaller, the window also smaller with, for a view, a big spider web and a black roof (vs the garden view I had before) and, I experienced later, the bed pillows were hard, thin and the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. Basically it felt like the room was available because they never give it to anyone. Again I thought: let’s not make a fuss, we lost over 30mn waiting already, maybe that’s all they have. However I did note that the receptionist played dumb and didn’t say anything about them “maybe” only having this far inferior room for me. Anyway, there was a shower in this one, so I was trying to be reasonable. Until I notice that the shower had no handset. it used to be there it seemed, but had been removed. So I was stuck with the top fixed head, which sent quite spread out water jets and one drop of cold water constantly dripping on its side. Now as I am heavily pregnant I hope you would understand why a moving shower hand, is important for me. Access to all parts of the body is not obvious at that point. So here frustration starts getting the better of me. I grudgingly asked my husband to help me go in the bathtub but no luck again: the water pressure there was an absolute joke. At this point, pregnancy not helping, i started crying. I felt like I was being punished for changing room or actually more like taken for a ride by the hotel. On the next occasion I had to speak with the receptionist later in the evening, I told her everything I’m describing above and clearly stated that I was super upset and that it had ruined my whole week-end. She seemed genuinely attentive and said she’s talk to the manager to see what they could do to make me feel better. So you’d think the manager would react at least just to acknowledge us and apologise to a current guest being this unhappy... Think again! Nobody contacted me during my stay and there was no recollection or trace of my complaint when I checked out. I gave them another chance at check out, as I mentioned that I had complained the night before and was expecting someone to get back to my at least with a word of apology. The lady didn’t seem very curious about the matter but she went to check for a manager I could talk to. then she came back to say that the evening manager was not there at that time (didn’t she know this before asking me to wait?) and that she’ll contact me at some point. So I just left with the bitter taste of a failed attempt to relax and get pampered in a luxurious hotel. If the hotel staff is reading this, don’t bother replying and contacting me now. You had your chance to speak to me face to face or over the phone during my stay and didn’t give a damn. Any public reply now is worthless to me and I hope it will be to whomever is interested by my review of your hotel. PS: the restaurant staff are great and working hard (they seemed understaffed) and I regret now not leaving a tip but I was too upset because of the room issue. The SPA staff are useless but it’s not worth expanding on it.

Stayed recently for an overnight spa break. Danesfield House is a lovely property with a great location. The spa facilities are very good with a large pool that never felt too busy. The food was lovely and although the service was a bit Fawlty Towers at times, it was always charming. The only negative that stops me giving 5 stars is that as new parents on a very rare “night off” we asked for a late check out. This was refused at booking twice, despite this being accepted the first time we booked! (we had to move the original booking). At check in they said the extra hour for a late check out would cost £20. A bit rich when we were spending £450 for the overnight package when you add in all the extras. So unfortunately that small point left quite a big and lasting bad taste for us.
