FAQ

What is your experience in taxidermy and what types of animals do you specialize in?

At D Frampton, we have over 20 years of experience in taxidermy and have worked with a wide range of animals, including mammals, birds, and fish. We specialize in creating lifelike and realistic mounts that accurately reflect the animal's natural appearance.

What is your process for preserving the animal and how long does it take?

Our taxidermy process involves carefully skinning and cleaning the animal, preserving the skin with tanning chemicals, and then mounting the skin on a form to recreate the animal's natural pose. The process typically takes several months to complete, depending on the size and complexity of the mount.

What is your pricing model and what additional services do you offer (i.e. mounting, habitat creation)?

Our pricing model varies depending on the type of animal and the complexity of the mount. We offer a range of additional services, including custom habitat creation, pedestal mounting, and full-body mounts. Our team can work with clients to create a unique and personalized piece that meets their specific needs and preferences.

Can you provide references or examples of your previous work?

Yes, we would be happy to provide references and examples of our previous work. Our portfolio includes a diverse range of mounts, from small birds to large game animals. We take pride in our attention to detail and strive to create mounts that are both beautiful and accurate.

What measures do you take to ensure ethical and legal sourcing of animal specimens?

At D Frampton, we are committed to ethical and legal sourcing of all animal specimens. We only work with animals that have been legally obtained through hunting, trapping, or other means, and we comply with all local and international laws and regulations related to taxidermy. We also work closely with conservation organizations to promote sustainable and responsible hunting practices.

Excellent service, they brought my cat back to life. Not literally of course but it definitely looks more alive than dead. I asked if they could do the same with my grandmother but they refused on moral grounds. The sooner this country changes its archaic views on stuffing and embalming dead relatives the better!

I have been here. Derek is an amazing sculptor and artist with a special interest in extinct species. One of the most talented taxidermists in the country, he has masters qualifications in various different types of work. He's also a really nice guy. He's worked with some really big names in the art world and he's employed by some of the biggest museums and galleries. His film credits are impressive. It's an amazing creative place.
