Cygnet Oaks This hospital is a rehabilitation unit with three different hospitals in one place. My review is about The House. In the last year, the hospital has gotten better in certain areas but is so lacking in other areas. The staff ratio is still fluctuating from losing some very good experienced nurses and care assistants. There were at least 3 doctors who came and went so much with stability and access to a doctor that it was very difficult at times. Management and the rest of the workforce are not in sync with one another, and staff are not happy with shifts and breaks and management expectations. There have been major upgrades being implemented like a fully integrated camera system throughout all three hospitals. They have put in solar panels, which is a good thing for the hospital and the environment to I applaud them for doing that. If they could ease the plastic use and waste, that would be a great step forward for a greener environment. Generally, patients are happy, but for the staff, they are not so happy with their shift times and management policies and should be addressed before they lose the majority of the best of the best because that's who they are losing 📉 There have been a lot of new staff coming in and still a lot of use of bank and agency staff which in my view says a lot of the state of staffing levels. On a personal note, I have had a member of staff be abusive towards me in using inflammatory and racist terminology and more that I shall not go in to but clearly there is a culture of racism within the units. The way it was dealt with and the time it took, and the lack of information was very poor and kept in the house. Hate crimes are illegal just saying. Cygnet is a good hospital, and the staff are a good bunch who mostly remain professional and have a caring manner, but Cygnet Oaks could be better, and the CQC agrees with that. I have been to many hospitals, and I have to say this is one of the better hospitals I have experienced. They are doing good and awarded good from CQC, but better is always going to be more than good. Let's see what 2023 brings. I shall update a review mid year.
