Cafe was being shut down and cleaned a few minutes before it's stated closing time on a sunny Saturday in the Easter holidays, a shame as both us and other customers arriving shortly before 3 pm were hoping to use it. But the main disappointment was the farm shop, so much produce from overseas and surprisingly high prices on most fruit and veg. Reasonable selection of meats, and some nice pies, scotch eggs, rissoles etc.

Besides being over priced the man serving food was so rude and obviously had a massive issue with attitude !!!He refused to give me a second plate to share a child’s meal between my daughters who are 4 and 18 months .If the children hadn’t been hungry we would have walked out and left. When we made some enquiries this rude man apparently was the owner!!!Unbelievable!!!!

"One spoon each!" Expensive dictated-portions of bland mediocre food - find somewhere else to eat. Not worth paying for local convenience at the prices, quantity & quality provided. While there's some nice fresh farm produce, the farm-shop tax is too high. Would you like more of some veg & less of another? Would you like lots of thick tasty gravy? You wont get that here. One tiny desert spoon of each veg & a small ladle of brown-water labelled 'gravy'. One carvery, one drink, £17. No. This isn't how carvery's work. Even Toby don't limit their veg (and their cheaper too). Avoid.

I will never return to this place. I came here with my family for an impromptu breakfast happy and was initially impressed by the look of shop. In a good mood, I wasn't even grumpy with the overpriced menu, considering the basic décor and average quality of the breakfast that was delivered - quite happy to just get on and enjoy the morning. My son and daughter-in-law had already eaten early that morning, so just ordered a small breakfast between them. We asked for an extra plate to butter the toast on. The waitress seemed all nervous and said she would have to ask but did not return. I approached the counter to ask again but was told they were not allowed to give out extra plates and I should speak to the manager. I did, explaining the situation but the "manager" would not budge, saying it was "company policy, you can only have a plate if you buy a meal". Totally ridiculous in my opinion. I have never been treated like this in any other restaurant in my life, being made to feel as if I was some cheap skate trying to buy one meal between 2 to save money, when this was not the case. We were all ready to browse the shop after breakfast and buy more but ate up and shipped out never to return. It's the small things. Reading other reviews it seems others have had similar negative experiences. The owners need to take heed.
