Booked to stay for next year for a good price during when Arctic Monkeys are in Sheffield. Got an email few days later cancelling my booking and it doesn’t take a genius to know why, because they can get the room sold for loads more money by putting it back up at a higher price. Scummy thing to do during a cost of living crisis.

We booked our son into this hotel months ago only to be told they are cancelling our booking in April because of renovations with immediate effect - they must have known before now if renovating and this was for the British swim championships- we now have no hotel and those left are huge amounts of money due to the championships! Very disappointed and will never use this hotel again - we have stayed in the past - the rooms are noisy, old and when they did do breakfast it was in an old cellar. Now it is just a breakfast bag but they charge the same. It was all you can eat English breakfast previously.

Good Central location. Was hard to find as it's located in a side street and the flag outside was simply a thread of material. This hotel is in need of refurbishment, it's tired looking with 80s decor and fittings. Our double room was not a double but a 3/4 bed, fittings were hanging off the wall and no TV remote to use the TV. On arrival the room had the sun flooding in with all windows closed so we could not manage more than 10 minutes in the room. However staff were nice and friendly and gave us another room, nothing was too much trouble. From 5am in the morning the noise outside started and didn't stop! bin wagons, street cleaners, trollies rattling over the cobbles, etc, etc, so we didn't really sleep. Was OK for the money with staff very accomodating but unfortunately I will not be staying here again

Warning: Very detailed review ahead. Date of visit: 22nd Jan 2022. Introduction: First time staying at this hotel for a music event taking place in the city centre. Convenience is highly rated, as the high street is a short 1-2 min walk away. Very easy to check-in, and staff assisted in the best way possible. They acknowledge any special requests you made on your booking. Below are my thoughts on Parking, the Room, Breakfast, Check-Out. Parking: I parked at the Arundel Gate car park (as recommended on Booking.com website for this hotel), and received my entry ticket. It's highly recommended to scan the QR code at the hotel and fill out the parking, to qualify for the discount of £10 (vs £15). Just show confirmation of hotel parking to staff at Arundel Gate when leaving and they will let you out. Hotel Lobby / Area: Lift is 7 seconds before door closes. Book wallpaper for decor inside. Hand sanitizer provided throughout the hotel. Floor 2 has about 11 rooms, with rooms 201-206 on the left (as leaving lift) and rooms 207-211 on the right. Through the first door, rooms 201 + 206 are first, with a well-lit corridor. However rooms 202, 203, 204 and 205 were not lit, and the green fire-exit light was visible. Room Tour: 202 Room was spacious, big bathroom and relatively warm. Large cupboard with fan and hangers provided inside. Kettle, coffee, tea sachets, 2 mugs and milk in drawer under table. Two pillows per side of double bed. One hard, one soft. TV in room, although I didn't use it on my stay. View overlooking Curzon hotel/bar/restaurant Deskside tables either side of the comfortable bed. Free (decently-fast) WiFi and EarPlugs provided. Bathroom: Plenty of space including radiator for towels and floor mat provided. Two toilet paper, 2 glasses with paper tops. Two lots of soap bars, moisturiser, shower gel /conditioner/shampoo bottles provided. Bath and shower combo. Shaver port. For the perfect shower, turn the cold tap 45* so the word 'cold' faces the right wall in a horizontal axis. (On its side) Hot tap on the left, 1 & a half turns so the word 'hot' is upside down. This worked for me. Flick the switch in the middle as if running a bath to get the right temperature before turning on the shower head. Note the shower head cannot be adjusted. Negatives with Room: Plug sockets only. No USB ports. Shower doesn't have a temperature switch. Feedback left with management on this. Shower gel / shampoo is in a screw-cap bottle. I'd recommend a squirt-push bottle (like Carex soap ones). Worth having a shower corner rack to hold the shower gel / shampoo bottles. One art frame in room, so lacking decoration. Breakfast Review: Weekend Breakfast: 7-11am (Room Card Wallet says 8-10:30am) The usuals: bread, coffee/tea machine, condiments, microwave. Raspberry, blackcurrant and apricot jam, plus butter and raspberry seedless. Cranberry, orange & apple juice, although the cranberry is in a jug, the others are children's cartons. They do have glasses so I just poured an orange juice carton into it. Coffee cups, paper bags, trays & ceramic plates available. Muller vitality peach / strawberry yogurt Cereal: corn flakes, rice Krispies & crunchy nut. Stoats porridge pots. Breakfast Negatives: Fruit is available, but only apples (royal gala) were available. Two slices of white bread left at 10:30am. Bottles of Harrogate water, although only Sparkling was left :( Pan-au-chocolat & plain croissants; sadly individually plastic wrapped. Wooden spoons & paper bowls, but metal knives? - not sure why. Check-Out: Process was very easy. Staff asked if anything was wrong with the room, of which I couldn't think of any at the time.
