We went for vegan afternoon tea in March this year, and enjoyed it so much, we decided to go back again on our visit to Liverpool in September. We arrived on time, and had the same server we had back in March. She gave us a menu with information about the afternoon tea, and told us what drinks were included. Tea and coffee. If you want anything else you have to upgrade (and pay more obviously-on top of the £50). I told her that back in March the two glasses of prosecco were included, and she said we must have had the 'High Tea' then. In my head, i am thinking, 'no, no, we had the Afternoon tea', but i was too polite to say anything. I also have the email bookings from both times to prove it. I felt disappointed, but let it go. The sandwiches and cakes arrived and the bread for the sandwiches was dry, cold and hard, and the fillings average. The cakes were not as nice as the ones in March-not bad, just not delicious. We were given one very small milk jug between the two of us. Naturally, i had to keep getting up to ask them for more soya milk for our tea as we had a large pot each. (at least three times). Why not just provide a bigger jug at the start or give us one each? Or perhaps it would have been really nice if one of the staff had come over and asked us if we needed more. Teabags in the teapot, not loose leaf tea. On our last visit, in March, we took our left over cakes back with us in a box as they were delicious, but this time we left the ones we did not eat behind. We stayed about an hour less than last time, and could not wait to get out of there as we were so disappointed. When i went up to pay, i almost felt embarrassed giving them £50 for what was essentially dry sandwiches, a few cakes and tea. This was supposed to be a treat. The staff were polite, but distracted, and non attentive. (it wasn't busy). I should have known it was not going to be the same when i realised they had taken away away the two glasses of prosecco as part of the afternoon tea. Such a mean decision, and they can more than afford to include it for the money they charge. Our experience in March was lovely. Why was it so different this time? Change of management? Just an off day for them? I am afraid to say i won't be taking the risk of going there again to find out. (i was going to give a 2 out of 5, but went up to 3 as the experience in March was so much better).

Went for afternoon tea. Mine was vegan and was extremely nice. When I have had vegan afternoon tea before I never get as many cakes as my mum, but here I got loads. Everything was tasty. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely return and can recommend.
