Great place to visit. Historic and beautiful, suitable for all ages Gift shop has a variety of items for sale, all very reasonable prices. Some independent shops on site too. Lovely cafe and all staff at Cromford Mills very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

We visited on Sunday for the artisan market, which was a little disappointing as within 5 minutes we had seen everything twice over. So we booked onto the 12:30 tour, costing £41.50 for 3 of us...the tour guide was excellent, but a couple of minor points... 1. The Arkright Experience didn't work correctly, so had quite an extended period in semi darkness as the Arkright character wasn't being projected. 2. STOP STOP STOP allowing pets on the tour!! We had the most annoying woman with a dog which wouldnt stop barking, you could really tell the guide was getting p*ssed off with it...ruined it for us to be honest, as she kinda monopolised the guides time, had to keep stopping the tour to deal with the dog! The website needs to be updated to ensure people know there are NO insitu working mill parts of any kind, only display items, and demonstration devices. There seems to be a project to return the mill back to water powered so happy to pay the tour price if it helps to keep the project on track. Overall it's a very qwerky mix of antique/craft shops, mixed with a little shop and visitor centre, with period clothes for children to dress up in.
