A family member unexpectedly had to be admitted after falling ill on board a cruise ship. The staff, nurses and doctors were all amazing with her. She got the best care. The doctor even asked the staff to speak very clearly as she is not English and the Geordie accent is something she is not used to. The hospital itself was like a hotel. She was on the mend pretty quick. Only thing that wasn’t 5* was the food, but hey, you can’t have it all. Great thanks to ward 7 for looking after her.

I can't believe the standard of care in this hospital, Ward 15 has caused serious concerns the fact my father inlaw had been left for hours in a chair cold and couldn't get into bed because Staff never checked on him. Rude to my mother inlaw regarding visiting. And they have since moved him to North Tyne side and havnt even told the family he's been moved. Absolutely shocking. Appreciate might be busy but how long does it take to make a call to update.

Brilliant, personable and attentive care. First time I’ve ever been in hospital for any surgery and first time on general anaesthetic. Everything was explained. When the surgery was delayed (emergencies have to take priority) they made sure I had some food and water, and pain meds after the procedure.

I hope and pray no one has to go through what I went through for surgery here. I was left in agony after being told I needed emergency surgery at 11am. I asked for pain meds received none. 7pm still waiting for surgery and still waiting for pain meds. 9pm was told wouldn't get surgery will be on the list for tomorrow. I'd had no food or water this whole time and still no meds. Was taken to a ward and was given an out of date egg sandwich, and a cup of water and then was told I was allowed nothing else. Eventually I got some pain meds at 9.30pm. 10 and a half hours after I asked. I was repeatedly woken through the night, asked for pain meds at 3am and again had to wait another 5 hours before I got some (nurse said she forgot). After surgery I was sent home with out even seeing a doctor to tell me what they had done. 3 months later and I'm still in agony. Don't go here for your own health go somewhere else
