I will start with the positive and that was the sensitivity of the coroner herself. However, aside from that what can only be described as a farcical inquest was held. The coroner’s clerk constantly interrupting our conversations in the family room to deal with a seating plan. This is not a seating plan for a wedding! There were 8 of us in total in attendance in a room set out for approximately 15-20 people. That said, clerk has us playing musical chairs advising where we should be sitting. Aside from that, papers had been released to both parties which should not have been and statements which should have been released had been withheld and not supplied prior to the inquest day. This meant a few adjournments had to take place whilst incorrect papers were collected, and statements printed and handed out to both parties. The final straw was the poor link to the consultant speaking from the Countess of Chester. A comment was made that links are always poor here. That being the case please give thought to asking the doctor to come to attend in person, appreciating that the NHS is busy etc but this person’s statement was key and it was more than frustrating that we could see she was talking but we could not hear her and when she was back online it was all very disjointed. Finally, the very least that could be offered is a hot drink. There were jugs of water available and that was all. I hope I never have to reattend this site for many reasons, but if I do I certainly hope for a better experience than the one I had.

Not a very sensitive receptionist, people too quick to put you right these days, expecting you to know how to go about things you've and hope you'll never have to do again
