Had a meal here at the weekend with my wife. The front of house staff (or owner!?) was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, the other waiters were a lot less attentive, and very casual. The menu is a laminated piece of paper, which does give off a cheap vibe, but for the £50 a head we paid, it is obviously not cheap food (we only had one course each). The fillet was excellent, and my ribeye was slightly over cooked (I asked for medium rare), but I still enjoyed my meal. Portion sizes were OK, but the sides could certainly have been more generous. The selection of beer was very restricted, and there was nothing on draught, which was a shame.

We visited York and had this booked in advance, the restaurant moved location a few days before our booking to a larger place and seemed to have made the transition seamlessly. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the service was swift and friendly. We both had the 60 day aged ribeye and it was stunning! Best steak I have ever had. If you come to York and don’t eat here, you’ve missed out!

Good steaks a little thin but taste makes up for it and the grilled vegs were fantastic. Worth a try when your ready for a Ribeye or beef cheeks.

This is an amazing place to visit. Great service. Food out of this world, waiter did a special set menu for us even though it wasn't the correct day. Small with great ambience. Understand they are moving to bigger premises in the centre of the city. Hoping they will still be as good
