We just came back from an impromptu weekend glamping break at Constable Park, staying in one of the firepit circle bell tents. This is the first time we have ever opted for the luxury of glamping over regular camping, and it was wonderful to simply turn up with a few clothes, drinks and food, and to have everything else already provided and set up for us - not to mention having a proper double bed with electric blanket! Owners Sarah and Ian were great hosts, and have a fantastic set-up at Constable Park. The views across the River Stour to RSPB Cattawade are wonderful, and the birdsong and wildlife-spotting was so relaxing. There’s an ‘outdoor kitchen’ shared between 2 bell tents with a 2-burner gas hob and a gas BBQ, and each has its own picnic bench (or table and chairs), plus deckchairs for relaxing, so it was very straightforward to make our own meals. We did treat ourselves to the Constable Breakfast in the café on Sunday though - the honey-roast bacon was sensational. On Saturday afternoon we went out on single kayaks; such a peaceful paddle down towards Flatford. Sharing the firepit in the evening was lovely too; good to be convivial with a variety of people (including some young adults doing Gold D of E training for their canoeing expedition). This was a really relaxing break for us; the fact that it’s only 25 minutes from home only made it better!

Pitched my tent next to the river, hot showers and power point. Amazingly breakfast at the on site cafe the next day. £10 perfect!

Constable Park's "Top Tips Guided Trip" is an excellent two-hour course for beginners and those wishing to develop their paddleboarding or kayaking skills. Before entering the water, a comprehensive safety briefing is provided, and all necessary equipment (including paddleboards, kayaks, and buoyancy aids), is provided to ensure a comfortable and safe experience. Ian, the course leader, provided expert guidance and clear instruction, making it easy for the more nervous among us to gain confidence on the SUPs or kayaks. I was so excited to have been able to stand-up on my first attempt, thanks to the encouragement given! If I had have fallen in, not only would I have been well looked-after but there are also clean and well-maintained changing facilities back on dry land (and a lovely café to warm-up with a cuppa or hot meal). The beautiful surroundings of Brantham and the River Stour offer a picturesque backdrop, with an abundance of wildlife to appreciate. The staff members on the riverside are attentive and helpful, providing additional support and making the experience all the more enjoyable. Overall, I had a fantastic time on this tour. The "Top Tips Guided Trip" is a great choice for anyone looking to build self-confidence on a paddleboard or kayak and begin to explore our beautiful waterways. Highly recommended!

My daughters and I had a lovely hour kayaking and paddleboarding session, then went to the coffee house for lunch afterwards. I have a gluten allergy so on arrival asked if they catered for that and was told they did and that most things could be changed to gluten free. So we ordered a plain scone and a gf scone along with a bagel and cake/drinks. On arrival there was no sugar so I had to ask for it , I waited and waited but in the end went inside to get some, the lady did apologise for forgetting. Next the normal scone and bagel came out, no cutlery, no jam for the scone so I had to ask for that as well. Again I waited for my gf scone, it didn't come out so after 10 mins I asked and it hadn't been ordered even though I watched the waitress write it down. When it did come out everyone had finished eating but again no cutlery, no jam. The gf scone was very crumbly and fell apart when I cut it, taste wise it was ok apart from the flour all over the top of it that made it taste powdery. All in all I was very disappointed with the service, I would have hoped to have received a discount or free coffee, something but no. We have visited before and never had a problem so hoping it was just a one off. After leaving my first review Hannah from Constable Park Cafe contacted me and offered me a free cream tea for 4 people. As there is only my daughter and I we returned just the 2 of us. We enjoyed the cream tea, less icing sugar on the top, only thing I would say was the scone was very crumbly but it did not take away the taste which was delicious. Will be returning in the future. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available

Helped out with the big river clean up after the Coronation weekend. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and I was given a few tips on the water to help me stand on the Paddleboard. Had a really lovely afternoon, followed by a quick visit to the cafe for a drink and a cake. The paddleboard experience was very enjoyable - a beautiful location.
