Gordon is a well-known martial artist that Harpenden is lucky to have! It's great to do some serious training locally, but very accessible for someone that has picked up in later life, slightly aged (!), and has had a prior injury. Gordon's training will quickly get anyone up to speed as he distils the mechanics and important stuff down into repeatable, learnable techniques. He successfully pivoted online during covid and it was a great distraction mentally and physically from what was going on while continuing to progress. Thankfully back in the gym, the session is a great stress-reliever from the grind of the week. Gordon has built a really great club – there is a cracking group of students and we train in a safe, fun environment – whatever your skill level and background. Can’t recommend enough!

Not your boring old martial arts, all lined up and doing the same move repetitively. Small groups, with varied experience (and all friendly), interesting combinations, and individual help by Gordon to improve. Initially went for the exercise and fitness, and gradually got drawn in by the technical aspects too. Engaging way of staying fit, but the expertise of the instructor means you learn as you go, and almost without knowing how, you improve too. Highly recommend!

A uniquely talented instructor who is able to articulate his own years and experience of having been taught and trained by some of the best martial artists from all over the world into a method of training that can only enhance your ability and skills, whether you’re a beginner or seasoned martial artist. He pushes you to places you don’t think you can go, and when you’re there, you’ll love it! A great instructor, and a great bunch of training partners who respect each other, no matter their level of ability, all in a friendly and professional environment.

My son and I took the 121 try it out program this summer. This was our first experience with martial arts and it was fantastic! It got us into shape quickly and gave us a boost of self confidence. Gordon is an excellent teacher!!

Combat Arts is a superb martial arts club and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. Gordon creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all levels and yet uses his vast experience to push everyone to grow and achieve their best. I’ve been working with Gordon for the past 2.5 years in classes and 1:1s and it’s helped me, at 44, to be stronger, fitter and more confident than ever before. Give it a try - you won’t regret it!

Fantastic trainer, Gordan will work with you no matter what level you are out. Training is hard, but very productive and you go on a journey. Superb technical knowledge and guarantee will get the best out of you. Great group of people in the set up. Highly recommend

Amazing experience with Combat arts. Gordon is a master in his own right and takes the time to share and improve each individual. His past experience is above admirable. The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging but expect to work hard with the range of drills and pair work. Gordon promises to get you there and he will. The best way to train in my eyes, male or female.

I've been involved in martial arts most of my life. I met Gordon and started training with Combat Arts UK about 7 years ago and I've never looked back. Only wish I'd met him earlier. This is real, no-nonsense, effective, practical martial arts training with a focus on conditioning. Gordon's trained with the best and his skill, knowledge and experience put him right up there beside them. Martial arts is not one-size-fits-all and Gordon has a gift for finding what works for each individual. I love training with Combat Arts UK. They're a friendly, genuine, generous, varied group; no egos here! It's like being part of a family. I'm 41 and feeling fitter, stronger and more confident than ever. Highly recommended to anyone who's interested in training in top quality martial arts whether you're completely new to it or have done it for years and excellent for those looking to break the monotony of the gym!

You will learn muay Thai boxing, silat and many other techniques in a fabulous program that focuses on becoming stronger in yourself. It is tailored to you, and the close tutoring ensures you progress quickly 👏 strongly recommend a try.

I highly recommend Combat Arts after having returned to training recently. This club encompasses everything that I have been looking for in a martial arts academy for sometime, from welcoming and encouraging class members to Gordon, a highly professional yet friendly instructor with a wealth of expertise and knowledge in Thai Boxing as well as martial arts generally.
