I really do love this place, it’s a hidden gem. Walk through the centre courtyard and up the stairs on either side of the main entrance and enter the main room (in the photo). The lady at the counter was very friendly and informative. There’s a little shop which sells rather unique blank cards and postcards. I bought a pack for £2.50. Thankfully the building works have nearly been completed and the impressive brickwork has been restored. Some may recognise the exterior as it was used in Guy Rickie’s film Sherlock Holmes as they home to the Head of the Order where he later dies in the bath. The ambience is very pleasing and I hope it continues to delight visitors for generations.
