Having been schooled in Colchester, I've been familiar with its central library for decades & have never been able to develop a liking for it. I cannot understand how such a huge building can contain so very little & make such bad use of space, (it's like Doctor Who's TARDIS in reverse). The library building itself is just ugly modernism, out of character with the quaint square where it's been insensitively sited. The book selection is disappointingly limited & as for the public internet provision, it's dial-up speed technology would test the patience of a Saint. However, it's got a reference room with a lot of local resources for researchers, historians, etc. So it probably deserves a better review than this, but if you know the main Library, Ipswich, there's truly no comparison.

Not the place it used to be. Now shared by, Registrar's Offices etc. Could do with some signs telling you where things are.
