Works for people while having lunch. Food was OK. The peas and carrots had no flavours - probably fresh from the freezer to the pan. The grilled octopus was al dente. Room for improvements in the fries department.

I arrived late on a Thursday night after a concert in the nearby Cadogan Hall, but was made very welcome after 10 pm. It really is like stepping into a European movie set, perhaps somewhere in France, or central Europe. I felt pampered and appreciated, and basked in the subdued but sparkling mirrored lighting and comfy thirties decor. As I wasn't in a position to splash out, I had to choose from the cheaper end of the main courses; so enter the hamburger, fries and mineral water! (I had been able to sample some of their other delicious dishes in the past, but may have been too drunk to remember what they were). The beef was fine, and the very attentive staff brought me tiny separate pots of ketchup, mayo and seeded mustard to spread on this and that. With service, the bill was about £42, so this is not your local cafe to dive into twice a week and invite your work mates for a nosh-up. It's a charming environment where you can treat yourself and that special person. And drift back to when restaurants knew how to make you feel warm and special.
