My two children and I have been coming to this club for a couple of months now. This is a great place! Very welcoming and friendly with a good mixture of beginners and advanced. There is always someone to practice with. Instructors have years of experience behind their belts and have thought many. They can easily assess your needs and suggest how you can improve and progress. The Cocks Moors Woods dojo cooperates closely with other similar places in Birmingham so there are often additional courses run between them allowing you to learn from other instructors and meet other likeminded people.

The Club is friendly and welcoming. Able to cater for a wide range of abilities from beginners to experienced Aikido students. Mark Pickering knows his stuff and runs the club on a not for profit basis. So costs are kept as low as possible. Grading is available if wished, and as it is non competitive you can focus on improving yourself. They run regular courses with guest instructors and have strong links with other clubs at a local and national level. It is clear that he is teaching something he knows well, and loves. He is able to apply techniques to realistic real life situations and has the experience to know that it works when needed although like everything worth doing it has to be practised regularly. Beginners get black belt tuition and can work at their own pace. Over the years I have achieved things that i didn't think possible when I walked in as a beginner. If you are looking for something a bit different from the norm or you want to try something but don't consider yourself to be a martial artist I would recommend giving the club a go.
