Mixed feelings about this one. We dined here a few weeks ago to celebrate a couple of milestone birthdays and we had very high hopes after researching this restaurant. Arrival experience was fine and we were seated in the small room upstairs - cosy, decorative and a warm environment. We ordered a bottle of champagne and then we were given the dinner menus to browse. We already knew that we wanted the tasting menu after seeing it online - it looked like a great option and very reasonably priced. When we asked for it, our waitress told us that we were not able to have the tasting menu "because your table is only reserved for 1h45 and the tasting menu takes over 2hrs". She explained that to be eligible for the tasting menu you must state in advance when you book, but we had not seen any option to do so. Her tone was combative and not appreciated - we just wanted a nice meal and to spend good money on some sick wines and to enjoy a well reviewed tasting menu with some guests from out of town. Eventually, she backed down and let us have the tasting menu, but made us feel guilty by saying that they would just "make the next table wait in the lobby". She did however prohibit us from enjoying the wine pairings as this would take even longer (no problem, we were down for bottles of good stuff anyway). Service was not bad except for the fact that my guest had to set his part of the table himself because the waitress couldn't reach because the table was against the wall (maybe move the table slightly next time). Timing of the dishes was nice from a guest perspective, even if it took a lot more than the two hours quoted to us, we were not complaining. We actually really enjoyed the tasting menu - food was full of flavour and dishes followed each other nicely. The wine list is excellent, one of the best I've seen in any restaurant - kudos to the wine director. Ultimately, the experience was a little disappointing. I simply do not understand the model of offering a tasting menu only to tell your guests that they cannot choose it - is the intention here to disappoint people as early as possible? We can't be the only ones to have encountered this - could someone please explain the logic? I am well versed in hospitality and I wish that only a few key points could be improved, then this could be a truly fantastic product that I would have been happy to recommend to all of my friends and colleagues. Don't know if it was a full moon or if a few people were just having an off day, but if you can figure out a couple of serious FOH issues then you would have a great product. All the best.

We was celebrating our Ruby anniversary .The service was great, the food was good.I had the crab followed by the risotto .My wife had soup followed by steak.I think the food is a bit overpriced. We was disappointed to put upstairs in a small room ,so we didn’t get to see the main restaurant

This place is so overrated. It started with low quality cocktails. I can't understand how a bartender can take expensive whisky and rum and mix it with tablespoon of sugar. So their signature cocktail tasted like a sweet tea with alcohol. Second cocktail wasn't better ether. Our waitress was pouring water every minute, and opened new bottles without asking a permission. Starters were looking good, but had no taste. We didn't want to continue but were forced to order a main course. It was some Scottish fish and it tasted boring like a food court. We even haven't finished it.

My parents ate here recently and only had good things to say. In their words, the service was 'perfect'. They asked me to leave a review for them. Fantastic.

I expected so much more. This is not the most romantic restaurant in the world by a long shot. I live in Los Angeles, CA and my husband and I came here to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and it was disastrous. I made my reservations 4 months in advance and I asked to sit near the fireplace in which they gave me an extremely hard time about. Also, they didn’t even offer to give us an anniversary desert. I saw others with theirs and we had to ask. The entire dinner I had to remind them it was our anniversary when I had already done so for months. The food was okay but the restaurants in Italy were way more romantic with phenomenal service and food. I’d never come back here again. Beverly Hills or Malibu have way more romantic restaurants that prioritize your celebration and treat you with class and dignity no matter what you look like. I found it interesting that we were the only people of color in the restaurant that had to beg these people to treat us right where other non people of color didn’t have to ask. That bird cage drink was a joke as well. It tasted like fruit juice. When I told the manager of my experience he handed us a pack of mints. I would never recommend this place if you’re African American or black looking to be treated like everyone else.

we came here for our anniversary dinner & we were blown away by the place. such a pretty room with the flowers on the ceiling, the twilight coming in through the glass roof, and the warm fireplace. we loved the food & the wine was perhaps the best we’ve had. would love to come again next time we’re in london. they also gave us a little happy anniversary cupcake at the end which was a cute touch.
