Had a fantastic day hiking up Helvellyn! Tom knows the lakes very well and while leading the group he answered any questions we had as well as giving us some interesting facts about the history of the area, plants and the landscape. He communicated everything that was happening throughout the day and made sure we were included in any decisions. At the start of the hike he went through the route on a map and at certain intervals throughout the day he pointed out where were at along with some information on map reading. Throughout the hike Tom ensured everyone stayed together and was enjoying the hike by going at a steady pace. He offered to carry someone's bag when they started to struggle during a difficult section of the walk and frequently checked in with each member of the group. Tom also provided helmets for everyone when scrambling up Swirral Edge as an extra safety precaution which goes to show he puts everyone's safety first. Overall it was a very enjoyable hike and Tom is a friendly and experienced guide who we'd love to have again on any future trips!

My grandson, aged 14, went on the rock climbing beginners course last week with me as a chaperone (watching). He thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Tom, his instructor, was brilliant. His obvious understanding and expertise shone through. He led my grandson through some initial instruction to ascertain his abilities before allowing him on harder and harder climbs. Tom ensured on each climb safety was paramount but allowed my grandson to use his own initiative on most occasions to choose his route up the specific climb. My grandson usually climbs a climbing wall but is now hooked to the outdoor climbing experience and hopes to return soon. 10 out of 10 Tom!

My friend and I did a 1 day learn to lead (trad) course with Tom today. Neither of us have done any trad climbing before, but couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Tom was incredibly patient and knowledgeable towards our many questions, and really engaging as an instructor. He was also very supportive throughout and explained everything super clearly - we covered a whole heap of skills as a result and left feeling much more confident about getting into trad properly. Thanks very much Tom - hopefully see you again for another course soon!

Myself and three friends had a 6-hour outdoor climbing taster session for five people in Northumberland this weekend with Climb GB, and I couldn't recommend it enough. Tom is a fantastic instructor and his passion for climbing really shines through. We're now considering booking onto the lead climbing course he runs as we got so much out of this. I should also say that for Tom, safety is paramount, and this side of things was always clearly and effectively communicated, which allowed us to have an even better time through knowing we were in safe hands. Awesome session and would totally recommend!

Our 15 year old son recently had a 3 hour bouldering session with Tom on the Northumberland crags. He had a fantastic time and would love to do it again sometime! Having around 9 months of indoor bouldering experience he was keen to try the real thing outdoors and he was not disappointed. Tom was such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly tutor and was quickly able to establish the level of climbing that our son was capable of safely trying. We would certainly highly recommend Climb GB to anyone looking to give bouldering a go!
